Greatest Christmas Song of all Time

Yesterday, I had the misfortune to watch "A Very Murray Christmas" on either Netflix or Amazon in which Bill Murray murdered a Fairytale of New York. I'll never be able to unhear that and it has ruined my enjoyment of the song forever.

Greatest Christmas Song of all Time

For me it's a 3 way tie between Greg Lake (I Believe in Father Christmas), Pogues and Kirsty (Fairytale) and Bing and David (Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth). If asked for my least favourite, it would have to be Paul MuckCartney and Wonderful Christmas Time. What a pile of cr@p. Just shows...

Voting for our Railway Preservation donation

Speak for yourself. I can't seem to muster any enthusiaism for this project whatsoever. Destined to end up in a dusty shed at Didcot visited only on days of precipitation - or by people looking for the loos. Again, just MY opinion.

    Forum feature suggestion for 'jargon'

The one that bugs me the most is head codes - you can at least have a guess at station codes and other acronyms/abbreviations given the context but something like "I'm on 9S80 waiting at Wigan with no progress anticipated for a bit." means naff all to most people.

    Forum feature suggestion for 'jargon'

There are some people who will never follow the rules and some who will never be pulled up on it. My preference would be for those people to be given "infractions" and after enough be put on moderation and eventually banned but that won't happen either.

Would have been interesting to watch if not travel.

Forth road bridge closed completely, effect on rail network?

Shame that hovercraft service never got off the ground (or off the Firth).

    Virgin late night paths

If by 1B46 you mean the 2245 from Wolverhampton to Euston, it has only been pick up at MKC since the December 2013 timetable change

Tyne and Wear Metro: Catalogue of errors revealed behind Great North Run Metro servic

I'm not questioning the reason they close stations, I'm questioning the assertion that TfL run extra services for big events.

    Virgin late night paths

Has been pick up/set down at MKC for a couple of years now, necessitating a long wait if Northampton is missed out.

Delay Repay - responsibility to mitigate delay

Wasn't the destination London Terminals which he undoubtedly arrived at less than 30 minutes late?

Tyne and Wear Metro: Catalogue of errors revealed behind Great North Run Metro servic

If true, it only applies to Wembley. Not The Emirates (Holloway Road closed and fans sent to Highbury and Islington/Finsbury Park); not Hyde park when there's a concert on - Hyde Park Corner and other stations local to the park closed; not Notting Hill carnival - stations closed; not fireworks...

Tyne and Wear Metro: Catalogue of errors revealed behind Great North Run Metro servic

True, not only do they not run extra services on match days or event days (eg concerts in Hyde Park) - they also shut down some of stations in the particular area to make travelling more difficult.

Refused access to Birmingham Lounge with York - Winchester ticket

Aside from the bit where they dodge the question of whether Virgin offered to share a lounge by answering a question about lounges being part of their franchise requirement. Yes, under the franchise they are not obliged to provide facilities but that doesn't mean they can't and doesn't mean they...

    Jeremy Clarkson is being sued

We don't know when he brought the claim. It may have been 3 over months ago - these things do tend to drag on, particularly if there are attempts to settle out of court.

Milton Keynes - Virgin and/or London Midland

Why, when the off peak single from Euston is £10.15? The Gold Card discount is not valid on Virgin trains. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- It wasn't a made up abbreviation, it's a widely used abbreviation for Milton Keynes (the town) rather than Milton Keynes Central, the...
