Cross Country Voyagers - rear set locked out of use?

It doesn't matter if the odd vehicle has an engine out in passenger service. I think Voyagers can almost keep time on 3/5 although it would be taken out of traffic when suitable.

Cross Country Voyagers - rear set locked out of use?

The engines would always be running regardless.

    Fenchurch Street to Stratford

Never as far as I know. Definitely not in the last 50 years.

    Fenchurch Street to Stratford

Ive often thought about taking a spin on a diversion over the years when I’ve had a decent PNB at Liverpool St but have always bottled out incase something goes wrong.

New DfT rail usage figures, big increase

I’m glad everything i deal with on the railway is in miles and chains. oddly enough in exams I always write the safe distance from the running rail is 1.25m for 100mph or less yet safe distance from the OHL is 9ft

Looe Valley line cancellations on Sundays

The latter was a classic and proud I got to drive it.

Looe Valley line cancellations on Sundays

Don’t get me wrong I’d prefer the train every time but it has to be looked at logically. Back in the bad old days here in East Anglia the Felixstowe branch was regularly bustituted. It wasn’t anything against the good people of this Suffolk resort just that using RR buses vice the train on the...

Could Lumo take the spare 221's instead of 222's?

Virgin would have liked all Voyagers to be six cars from what I recall but the then SRA wasn’t interested.

New DfT rail usage figures, big increase

The bars and restaurants around Liverpool Street and Broadgate are now as busy on Thursday evenings as they are still on a Friday.

Looe Valley line cancellations on Sundays

Its an easy option to use RR buses on that route and crew would come from Plymouth so just operational convenience.

Could Lumo take the spare 221's instead of 222's?

Shouldn’t be an issue. Biggest problem is fuelling them at certain locations due to length and location of pumps.

Could Lumo take the spare 221's instead of 222's?

Wasn’t that what they were going to be anyway and why they just missed out coach E?

Waiting for a platform at Skipton (14/06)

At least the ECS (5D26) from this got a decent run. Also left Skipton 20L but clawed that back arriving Neville Hill 1E.

New DfT rail usage figures, big increase

It seems busier than Fridays peak well before 2020. These had already got much quieter and had been going that way for five or more years previous. Yes we had departures at 17:50 and 18:10 then rather than just 18:00 but especially the latter of those two had really slacked off that was when it...

New DfT rail usage figures, big increase

I worked the 18:00 down Norwich on Friday and considering that’s the quietest commuting day and it’s still a ‘peak’ service, we left Liverpool Street with a very healthy load indeed.

Tell me about it. Some just can't seem to shake off that excuse. Been a lame reason for a couple of years now.

    Labour Spending Review

Wasn’t parts of it cut back from 100-90 as an economy measure. 1749899143 I’ve never heard anything above 100mph mentioned for EWR.

Very much so. I just laugh when I see that former Secretary of State for transport nowadays. Excuse me for not posting his name but he did have several

New DfT rail usage figures, big increase

At least since the last lot left we no longer have to listen to the repetitive drivel about how they spent £16bn keeping the railways running during the pandemic as if it was somehow the employees fault and that they/we should be grateful and accept no pay increase. Just getting on with things...
