Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Thank God for that. Tedious wasn’t a strong enough word.

Seriously, how can anyone use the railway for long distance commuting?

Gosh, I’d stick a lot of that <D

And can’t get delay repay for that either.

Seriously, how can anyone use the railway for long distance commuting?

I would add ‘always have beer’ to that for the homebound journey.

LNER - Losses and subsidy increase despite increase in passenger numbers

That’s quite normal for a Friday morning.

    Cross-Country Catering and Poor PR

Very much agree. Here on Greater Anglia there are a few restricted staff who only work the cafe bar. Should set swaps take place and a 745/1 replaces their booked 745/0 then unfortunately only a ‘static’ trolley can be provided which then has to be in the area in the front or back meaning those...

I always look at it as a loss leader. Hotels with swimming pools are only used by a fraction of those who booked but were taken in by the facilities available.

Oh that’s not good. It should remember and cap accordingly if the same card/account is used.

    Cross-Country Catering and Poor PR

Yes I worked for GA until recently. It’s only middle of the day in the latter half of the week unless spare/volunteer staff agree at other times. Some have been taking over £100 on a return trip. I did here the 3 month trial might be extended to 6 but nothing confirmed. Initially in 2002 all...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Yes it’s the fresh water. I’ve had 745s where unfortunatley all toilets have done this. Often happened after weekend overhead isolations.

    Cross-Country Catering and Poor PR

It’s always sad to see catering removed but if I’m honest the Stansted route was very poor. Not a great deal of choice, only part of the day to suit the shore base, and often the trolley wasn’t announced over the tannoy or worse by the host as the trolley passed by before I even knew it was...

    Cross-Country Catering and Poor PR

This was announced across social media yesterday afternoon. I had to laugh at their spin on it by saying we are concentrating on our Voyager services.

Another possible reason could be the recent very cold weather and sub-zero nighttime temperature. For example if left shutdown the Stadler fleet will automatically dump the toilet tank to reduce the risk of damage.

These things happen. It can often be something a software update has caused.

    Class 755 Bi-Mode

As far as I’m aware they’ve been far more reliable since the Deutz engine changes. Occasional pantographs isolated but nothing unusual. Stadler appear to be doing an excellent job and backed up by yet another golden spanner for the 755/4 fleet. I left in July so haven’t heard anything different...

    Class 755 Bi-Mode

Approaching the new Ely bypass bridge is a favourite for many. No, no pre-heat setting. Just start the diesel engines so they warm up slightly before taking load.

    Class 755 Bi-Mode

If the pantograph was raised the engines would not be powering the train so would just be idling. Maybe you heard the intial start up where they fire up separately but it wouldn’t be as far back as Cambridge under normal circumstances.
