    Class 80x accessible toilets

I'm old enough to remember designs of trains which had at least 2 toilets per significantly shorter carriages than we're talking about. Yes, I do want them all to be the same. I don't want it to be the current lottery. I would say I don't know why you've mentioned wheelchairs because nobody...

    Class 80x accessible toilets

They did, and the toilet provision on Voyagers is great. They are all the same. You don't need to worry about where you are on the train, which toilet is which, the nearest toilet is the one you want. Fantastic.

    Class 80x accessible toilets

This is one of multiple reasons that all toilets on a new build train should be accessible (I'd prefer them called something like universal) ones.

Any modern bridge ever raised for electrification?

The railway is also stupid enough to put up temporary erections in accordance with its rules on new structures. While New Cross Gate station was being modernised, including to its fast line platforms which are now never used, there was an elaborate temporary overbridge which was higher than the...

East Croydon to Brighton e-ticket query

Is there a retailer who will provide tickets as an m-ticket in their app AND a PDF e-ticket by email? I'm not fond of either, but as I'm increasingly being forced down the e-route, I think that's what I'd prefer if I must go this way. I've found M-tickets in an app way less faff than email...

Phone speaker noise on trains - have we given up completely?

Oh, there's little worse on a train. Looking forward to a nice relaxing journey, then someone sits next to you and gets their laptop out. It's immensely rude but covered with a false veneer of acceptability. I'd much rather someone watching a video or listening to music than tap tap tap thud...

Electricity transmission line above a railway? Old photograph

Is there really a safety difference between that and the countless places where power lines cross railway lines?

Any modern bridge ever raised for electrification?

Of course there have been. If you're referring to me as the poster, I have no opinion on the Britannia Bridge. I do suggest you consider routes like the WCML and think about the stations on them, and how some clearly don't retain original footbridges. Stafford station didn't always look like it...

    Trainline double booking issue?

What happens if a TOC "deletes" a train, then reinstates it, or "adds" a new train with identical timing to fiddle with the timetable, e.g. to remove or add stops? Not unknown to see 2 trains at the same time on (passenger facing) booking systems when of course only one train exists. My local...

    Holyhead electrification

Even if that's the case, "no we have no plans to electrify there, fill your boots..." Returning to the Conwy area rather than the Britannia Bridge (on which I think there was an implication by someone earlier that a new road bridge could mean the road deck could be removed - every option being...

    Prosecution UPDATE

However, I believe it should hopefully be quite straightforward to write a response which shows that byelaw doesn't apply here, at least to the point of making the prosecutor decide to continue. If it went to court I do suspect the prosecution would succeed, it will be handled by lay...

    Prosecution UPDATE

Which would be irrelevant, you can't tick yourself in or out of a criminal offence. I would certainly reply to this before court, but it would be useful to see what the letter says and who it's from. Is it a summons, a notice of intent, and the offence that is alleged. The optimist in me says...

    Scotrail and alcohol

I believe that is legal, and that it's (technically) illegal to sell to sell alcohol to someone who's drunk. Technically of course, as otherwise all supermarket and pub staff would have been prosecuted. The other way around, pretty much everyone in the country would have too.

    Scotrail and alcohol

Merseyrail also has a no alcohol drinking rule, and they very much do enforce it, including escalations which otherwise wouldn't happen.

Should the railway have tickets to off the network places served by bus?

Umm, I do live in this area you think you're an expert about. We want tourists. But tourists who spend money. People who are travelling around on buses? Na. And there is not a huge car problem, what do you mean by that and where?

Phone speaker noise on trains - have we given up completely?

"Excuse me, do you mind..." The modern fascination for more regulation, more laws is not a good thing. Use what we already have. Or, perhaps, stop being miserable

Should the railway have tickets to off the network places served by bus?

Absolutely not. There's no market at all between those. We all drive. A coastal PlusBus, perhaps, but really we'd rather not encourage people concerned about bus routes or prices.

Network Rail Comms Director ‘work harder at school’ comment

The vast majority of people at Glastonbury go by car.

Network Rail Comms Director ‘work harder at school’ comment

Because they're important socially and economically.
