    "Reservations recommended" on Avanti's site

Which services are still marked as reservations compulsory? There shouldn't be any, surely? Reservations recommended has existed for decades, perhaps they're just displaying this on their online booking system?

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

Dear me. OK, you've been in them. So instead of having a go at the guy on the platform, why not let us know what your view was? Where are the luggage racks? Are they big, are they small? Next time you're in one, take some photos and post them! 1652208597 You haven't been on a TFW unit so you...

What must be done to make buses more relevant outside London?

Or alternatively, meaningless way. Why would any measure to restrict car use have any beneficial effect? None have had so far. And why would we want to?

    Holyhead electrification

We have all the improvements we need. I noticed today TFW have taken down the "Metro is coming" banner at Llandudno Junction. No, it isn't. I didn't bother complaining about it. It's completely pointless. Maybe soon they'll take down the "you must buy a ticket before boarding" poster at Conwy...

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

I don't care that much about the almost-but-not-quite-the-same timings to be honest, although it is clearly silly. Living somewhere where you might be waiting a couple of hours for the next train, you tend to look it up. (Don't get me started on my local bus route which is every 40 mins at some...

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

That's true, I've seen how they take some pretty enormous cases for an overhead - my main experience of the Northern CAFs are Chester to Warrington (invariably empty) and Preston to Blackpool (invariably lots of cases!) Massively better than 175s, which have completely unusable overheads. My...

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

To bring this back onto the new trains rather than TFW's general incompetence, those praising the door locations might think differently once they travel on one. I nosed at one parked at Llandudno Junction last week. Looks the same as the Northern CAFs to me. The lack of luggage racks will mean...

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

This is the next one. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P21201/2022-05-10#allox_id=0 While they're at it, they can get rid of the silly one or other pattern to stopping on Anglesey or the coast. And stops being on Mk4s one way but not the other. I do live here so do have a lot...

CAF Civity for TfW design issues and solutions

I wish you'd let TFW know that, so they stop their ludicrous non-stop Llandudno Junction - Chester trains.

    Buses With Roller Blinds (Handwind)

Do London buses have hand wind blinds? They're blinds but every time I've seen one change it appears to be automated - they roll through at a constant speed and often go slightly after what was wanted and it jumps back. Seems like an electronic system controlling it.

Should the railway have tickets to off the network places served by bus?

Nobody *comes* here by bus. They come by car, train or coach. Yes, when they're here I would prefer they spent some money. Not entirely sure why that's a controversial opinion.

Any modern bridge ever raised for electrification?

I'll have to watch that, well some of it, thank you for sharing. How about the archway through the town walls going westbound? That feels unlikely to be high enough. It's a hole built by the railways, but with historical significance of itself. I do feel some really underestimate just how...

Should the railway have tickets to off the network places served by bus?

Eh? Your post which I was replying to said there are people who have no choice but to take public transport. We have accessible buses, trains and taxis. You'll need to explain a bit more about what this "ableism" you mention is.

Chester or Bidston to Abergele and Pensarn

Probably only of use for overnight stays, but you should find advance tickets for Chester to Colwyn Bay.

Should the railway have tickets to off the network places served by bus?

Not at all. We have wheelchair accessible taxis, and both councils which cover Snowdonia are very strict over any driver of one not aiding a passenger who needs assistance.

    Split ticket advance missed connection

Disagree. Last year I had a 2 hour delay changing at Warrington Bank Quay where I went to the ticket office to get authorisation to take the next TPE. Fair play to the member of staff, she really tried but the answer was no. Best part of an hour of phone calls, and a ridiculous palaver of...

Any modern bridge ever raised for electrification?

Looking at it now, I'd be very surprised if the 6G Road bridge at Llandudno Junction was built with any idea of electrification. It's a lot lower than it feels driving over it. So I think this idea that all bridges are built with provision for electrification is just that, an idea, surely.

    Single vs period ticket pricing

Oh, just say which city it is. You're not an international man of mystery! (You let MI5 on a regular basis you'll be the guy running for the train somewhere in the home counties)

Phone speaker noise on trains - have we given up completely?

Feel free to let us know which mentions laptops, rather than an all-encompassing one. That was rather my point, we already have laws which can cover pretty much everything you'd want to be covered. At one point Southern's toilet doors had a wheelchair symbol with "Priority By Law." We are not a...
