Should railways and buses be under common control in UK

Excellent point, which I note nobody has responded to. Unless you have a very frequent bus service, everyone's "integrated" bus may just be someone else's poor connection.

Why does Crossrail finish so early in the evening?

I don't think anyone will be surprised if full service is delayed further, or never meets what was said. After all, this is Crossrail. When's that full Thameslink service coming?

Should London Overground take over the Watford-Clapham WLL service?

Alternatively, why would non-London tax payers want to fund a "basket case" like TFL? It's the wrong approach anyway. Transport funding should be national, we're seeing how it not being doesn't work well and causes huge problems.

Nearest Station to Tottenham Hotspur stadium

The closest station is the unsurprisingly named White Hart Lane :) I doubt from Preston there's any convenient, or cheaper, way to get there than going to Euston and then using Oyster/Contactless. BUT bear in mind there are no tube stations particularly close, and trains to there go from...

    Best UK Train Manufacturer?

The 458 pre-dates the Pendolino though. In the meantime Alstom/Bombardier (the OP has put them together, which seems reasonable) have delivered more successful new trains in terms of units delivered than any other manufacturer, I'd hazard a guess. Countless turbostars and electrostars

Will HS2 make rail travel worse.

King's Cross to St Pancras is also "not 10 minutes," Is one of the miraculous benefits of HS2 an increase in walking speed?

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

Sigh. I did not attack. As I've said before, my very first post quotes the apparent reason for the existence of these tickets existing. I would rather you explained why I'm wrong to think this ticket type is being misused by Transpennine Express.

Late LNR service 21/05/2022 from Milton Keynes to Euston after concert

Even though Milton Keynes is about to get city status, I think it's unlikely to have thousands of hotel rooms any time soon.

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

Thank you for digging those out, most informative! @Watershed was clearly completely correct with his reply earlier. Who on earth indeed would've thought TOCs might use a change aimed at the passenger for their own benefit.

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

Perhaps nobody does? In that case that validity should be removed from anytime returns. Problem solved, no need for a different ticket type. I'll hazard a guess that you're a back office railway employee? I can't see how anybody can justify these differences and anomalies. Your "it's how it...

Will HS2 make rail travel worse.

Thank you. I wish more people wouldn't just disregard this. I fully expect that when (if?) the first section opens there'll be some rumblings in the public over why so much was spent on a Birmingham to London line. Once it opens, the "it'll get to Leeds/Glasgow/wherever in another 10 years" will...

Reduce bus stops to attract more passengers?

Most of the London bus network has, in many places far, shorter distances between stops yet is also by far the most used bus network. Reliability and frequency is important.

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

I quoted this in my initial post! Well yes, obviously you can only buy tickets which exist. My suggestion is that the tickets which are available for these journeys are inappropriate. I must admit I'm struggling to understand what point you're trying to make here.

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

That's sensible, for routes that have day tickets. For routes such as these, where there are no day tickets, and the risk of tickets being used as seasons is roughly zero, it does feel like misuse. What is "short" about Pwllheli to Berwick?

Are some people not cut out to drive?

One thing I never like seeing are the "funny" news articles when someone passes on the 20th attempt. I would be far too embarrassed to admit that, let alone want my mug in a newspaper with it. In fact, I think I would have given it up as a lost cause a long time earlier, and I think those...

Smart Motorways, is it time to end them?

I've often wondered if it would have been feasible for motorways in Britain to have been built in the style they often were in the US, with deliberately large central reservations to allow for adding extra lanes in the future without any alterations to bridges and slip roads. That can't be done...

"Misuse" of Anytime Short Return ticket type by Transpennine Express

While looking up fares from Llandudno Junction to Newcastle, returning early in the morning, I was surprised to see only Anytime Short Returns are available, with no Anytime Return. The fare setter is Transpennine Express, and this seems to be the case for every station pair I tried, including...

Fines issued on Marlow branch line

As well as seeing it, most people can hear so our passenger may well "see" exactly what other passengers have bought on board, and what payment method they have used. "Return to blah please. Card, please" probably covers the vast majority of tickets bought on board.

Valid routes Warrington Bank Quay to Blackpool North

Thanks. I don't think I explained what I meant there very well though - I want to return via Wigan Northwestern on an Avanti service. 1653157817 This is where I feel the pragmatism I don't expect to happen is needed. My ticket will be valid "from" WBQ. There aren't any trains on the direct...
