    Queen under medical supervision

This isn't looking good. But at least she'll be seeing out her final days at Balmoral.

Lockdown effects now killing/harming more people than Covid

The excess deaths are largely going to be from things such as cancer and heart disease. The NHS pretty much told everyone to eff off for the best part of 18 months, so diseases treatable in their early stages have reached the point where they are now life ending.

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

At the risk of drifting off topic, there is no need for mandatory ID in this country. Most people seem perfectly happy to share all their details for all and sundry on social media. They've done the government's job for them.

    Class 321 storage/scrapping

I could understand that if a unit were going to another operator, or off lease to be stored, but it seems a bit pointless when it's heading straight to the shredder.

Lockdown effects now killing/harming more people than Covid

In the 1960s there was no 24 hour rolling news and no social media. So no hyperbole and attention seeking.

"Covid rising in England" - let's stop the fear mongering

This particular NHS worker thoroughly agrees with you. My years in clinical practice have shown me that it's an inefficient behemoth. I could tell you stories of waste that would make you weep. The problems can't be solved by throwing money at them. It'd only get squandered. Management is very...

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

I'm going to ask a similar question to one I asked in the SWR 701 thread. I've trawled many pages on here, and at this point I'm struggling to understand what is preventing these 769s from entering service. Are there technical problems? Design problems? It is it just industrial relations...

Particularly a challenge on a cross channel ferry in a force 8. I found this out the hard way.

Energy price rises and price cap discussion.

Everything seems to be skewed in favour of the energy providers. I'm supposed to be able to sell excess electricity back to the grid from the solar panels on the roof, which given today's announcement has become all the more important. But I've been told by my energy supplier, British Gas, that...

    Russia invades Ukraine

I think it's the opposite. A way of bolstering the numbers without a general mobilisation, which would require him admitting that his "Special Military Operation" is in fact a war.

Autumn refresh for GWR Class 165/166 Turbos

I've been told in the past that the North Downs must be 3 cars during leaf fall season, due to adhesion issues with the 2 car units. Is this still the case?

Possible AC EMU future cascade scenarios?

There is no use for them. That's the nature of microfleets. Ordered for a specific purpose, then finished with. Had there been an open access operator wanting to start an electric service somewhere requiring 5 units, they may have found a home. But there wasn't. I don't doubt that ROG has spent...

Possible AC EMU future cascade scenarios?

Who is "they"? Storage isn't free. What any private company chooses to do with its assets is up to them. The government I suppose could have outbid the scrap man, but then it's taxpayers money being squandered on storage charges.

Possible AC EMU future cascade scenarios?

IIRC is 360205 newer than the rest? Something tells me it arrived with the 5th coaches for the other ones.

Possible AC EMU future cascade scenarios?

It seems utterly wasteful, but to be blunt there is absolutely no use anywhere for a microfleet of these. WMR are binning off some similar 350s, so would have no interest. EMR have said they don't want them. Converting them to DC for SWR would be too costly, as non gangwayed they would be non...

Should we start mining our own coal and use it in power stations until we can rely on renewable energy to supply all of our needs?

Climate Change or not, it's free electricity. To be honest that was the driving force to making my decision to get the panels fitted.

Should we start mining our own coal and use it in power stations until we can rely on renewable energy to supply all of our needs?

I don't get why it's not compulsory for all new build houses to be equipped with solar panels, and existing houses offered panels at cost price. At this moment, I'm drawing nothing from the grid. It's a cloudy, rainy day. The hot water tank is already up to temperature. I've not used any gas for...

Lockdown effects now killing/harming more people than Covid

He addresses that very point in the book. Seems the media only wanted to hear one viewpoint. He is particularly scathing of the BBC.

Lockdown effects now killing/harming more people than Covid

I've read "The Year The World Went Mad" by Prof Mark Woolhouse, a SAGE scientist. He is astounded that all scientific reasoning was abandoned in favour of panic when lockdown was announced. Lockdown was never even remotely modelled for any pandemic. Never mind "following the science". The...

    GB News

LBC doesn't claim to be a news channel. Its output is discussion and phone-in based. GB News, however, claims to be an alternative 24 hour rolling news network. Which it isn't.
