    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

Lothian said on their website they had seat coverings on order, no sign of them yet. I was beside a 26 at some lights yesterday about midday and everyone appeared to be sitting window seat, alone, but every row I could see on the bottom deck was filled.

I'd agree wholeheartedly with the X7. It would suit the coaches perfectly for the blast up the A1. Pre COVID I though the route needed to be split but if patronage recovers I'd put on some Haddington shorts on the peaks and I think you'd be covered. The B8RLEs could stay put, oust all the...

The B8RLE Eclipse 3s only seat 40, that's with the rather chunky dual purpose seating which seems far chunkier than the high back now standard on other purchases. Comfortable yes, but makes it harder to spot free seats I find!

    First Greater Glasgow

None of this surprises me! I was thinking a cheaper solution where the ticket machine could be programmed with vehicle height and use GPS (assuming modern kit has this for tracking anyway) and yelp out loud on roads approaching low bridges.

    Trivia: Lost modern "classic" liveries

Great question OP! Agree, it was a cracker! It really was, traditional and restrained but equally smart on the older elements of the fleet and the newer Volvo B6/B10B and B10Ms they had at the time. I couldn't make sense of it at the time, it was different enough to the existing liveries to...

That bridge has claimed many a victim over the years despite being well signed and in clear view especially in that direction, the diversion to avoid it is very minor too, although does force an awkward semi blind right hand turn. You'd think in this modern world of technology a solution...

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

I'm guessing from the nearside upper pillar of 33153 that it has met a sturdy tree branch or two in its service!

Minimum spend at the TVMs is gone, from personal experience. The return ticket also offers a slight saving over two singles, which you can't get on the bus! I forget the exact figures.

Thanks, I remember you saying there were screens for the B5s and B9s but wondered about the 8s. Sounds like they are taking the right steps to address, which is no less than you'd expect of course.

Out if interest, did they have full screens sitting ready for the B8RLEs from Wright's or did they need to fashion something?

I guess it makes sense, cluster the B7TLs with a good few years in them in places not threatening / deemed likely to look at bringing in emissions zones soon enough to be a problem, allowing new deliveries to be sent to areas that do have restrictions to work within (Glasgow, Leeds etc)

    Bus Hits Bridge in Salford

Hope all passengers and driver okay, looks like they are thankfully! Go North West 37289 Volvo B9TL/Wright Gemini MX07 BTE by the look of it. Can't see her surviving that - which seems to be said with every bridge strike - but I'm combining the elements of damage, age of vehicle, coronavirus...

    Stagecoach Repaint Updates

On retrospect, seeing the magic bus variant feels like that's shown the way they *should* have gone - have a consistent rear and sides application and use their different colours on the front where needed. I wouldn't bother distinguishing between bus and coach services though as I don't think...

    Stagecoach Repaint Updates

I'd agree but ironically it's a mockery of what Stagey said the point in switching to three liveries was for, by introducing a fourth! The whole exercise is a complete dog's dinner.

    Stagecoach Repaint Updates

That's an assumption I made too, with large chunks of fleets lying around doing nothing, and the normal levels of PPE needed when painting anyway, it feels to me that it shouldn't be a task that's overly difficult to introduce extra protection and social distancing to? Missed opportunity...

Probably as awkward as FOTF looks on any Gemini 1 / Eclipse 1, especially at the front, I'd imagine. https://www.flickr.com/photos/kasakarim/40013020165 [Not my picture, credits on link]

Agree, and Wallyford is already overbussed, especially with its 10 minute to town rail link to compete with.
