What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

OP seems to remain unaware that the North West, North East and Yorkshire are different places from each other. To say nothing of Cumbria (now Cumberland / Westmoreland & Furness) which has a tendency to be lumped in with the North East...

What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

That given the location of the second busiest airport, buses are the right solution? I know this is the speculative sub-forum, but we need to show a certain degree of realism. And that means taking on board that - however fast it's growing, and however much bigger it is than the other...

    Contactless to stansted

'Not' or 'now'? (my emphasis in the above) Sorry to be picky, but I'm not sure if you're trying to confirm that for those two days it's now right - or that for those two days it's still wrong.

Govia prosecution - is there any circumstance in which they don't settle?

Are there really? If I do a quick Google for 'train ticket refund fraud' against news (rather than general websites) only comes up with two prosecutions for refund fraud (as opposed to delay repay fraud, for which there are more cases) on the first couple of screens - and of those two, one...

What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

As a commuter operation, the ferry now runs Seacombe - Pier Head. And when a ferry isn't available, I understand that a coach is substituted which doesn't seem to cause any great problem for the commuters. Realistically, it's a tourist operation on the back of the Gerry and the Pacemakers song...

What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

<COUGHS> Ship Canal... Garston Docks... More relevant to the suggestion of an airport to town boat is surely how long such a boat would take? I don't actually know how fast boats move but my impression is that it tends to be a few miles an hour. So while there might not be any other traffic...

Govia prosecution - is there any circumstance in which they don't settle?

We may be about to get broken off into a separate thread if this is too far from the OP's circumstance, but it seems to me that - although the railway could prosecute illegitimate refunds as fraud, they don't - probably because the railway aren't convinced that they have enough evidence to meet...

Fare Evasion GTR intention to prosecute

Just to correct a typo - you want to say GTR rather than GWR.

GTR - Notice of Intention to Prosecute letter

To be honest, OK is good enough. GTR aren't looking for a literary marvel but something which tells them that you are sincere about not doing it again, and which means that they will et their money (i.e. the dodged fare plus the cost of their investigation) back. Quite possibly. There is a...

GTR - Notice of Intention to Prosecute letter

Welcome to the forum. That looks OK as a response. If I was going to be picky, I might suggest changing sentence 2 of paragraph 4 from to But realistically I suspect that GTR will offer you the chance to settle out of court on the basis of your letter. As this isn't the first time that you...

GWR Pre-Court Settlement Email/Letter over 2 years later

That's probably the single best brief advice, but to offer another view: At the moment, GWR are asking you for <an amount in the low hundreds of pounds> to settle the matter. If this is something you could pay without missing it, then doing so will be the easiest way of making the matter go...

Penalty Fare as an open return on TrainPal also includes day returns

Welcome to the forum. The problem that leaps out to me is that 'open return' isn't something with a definition on the railway. The way I see it used (on the LNER app, which is not TrainPal) is to mean 'return which is not tied to a particular train', so 'not an Advance ticket'. But that is...

Did not evade fair. TOCs behaving like gangsters.

It may be worth bearing in mind that while railway staff do not often use their powers, in certain circumstances they are allowed to detain you. The Regulation of Railways Act 1889 says (source - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Vict/52-53/57) In terms of the law, railways are funny...

Did not evade fair. TOCs behaving like gangsters.

Welcome to the forum. I'll admit I haven't yet read your long version which may explain all this, but it would be really helpful for us if you could show us everything you have received from the railway and so on, and what you sent to them (n.b. please redact everything to hide your name...

    Contactless to stansted

Leaving aside the specifics of Stansted, what do the anecdotes on this thread tell us about whether there should be a national contactless scheme, or a series of local ones? There seems to be the demand to go national.

Season Tickets with two 'opposite' permitted routes: Can I pass non-stop through the origin?

There are certainly plenty of loops: but the one I used to use (before restrictions imposed which made it less worthwhile) formally started at a commuter station which all trains called at. Posters have now come up with real world examples where not everything serves the starting point so I will...

What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

    Intent of prosecution EMAIL

The most likely explanation is that Chiltern have decided not to follow anything up, and you are off the hook. So keep an eye on the post just in case something more comes through, but otherwise get on with your life and try not to worry any more. And make sure you always buy the right train...

What extensions should be made to the Merseyrail Network?

Not quite sure what you mean here: please could you expand a little? Because it seems to me to be obvious that the best solution for Burscough is one station to serve everywhere - and probably for Bridge to be that station as it's better located than Junction. But I run into problems thinking...
