    Ember: Electric coach service

This is fantastic news. Limited stop too, so much faster end-to-end. Im still suprised by the total lack of response from Stagecoach. Is there something we don't know? :D

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

Not quite. Mondays to Fridays an X51 with "WEYMOUTH (scrolling... via Martinstown... via Dorchester) is at 9.29am, the X52 via the coast is 9.32am - when it's on time. This pattern is repeated throughout the day. Locals know the difference, tourists don't. A simple solution would be to change...

X52 is the open top bus for West Bay. (Bridport - West Bay - Burton Bradstock etc. to Weymouth) 1780303191 A list of issues with First so far... First have done their "thing" again, in that if you want to know the bus times from Bridport to Weymouth you have to refer to three different...

Fave TOC that no longer exists

It was National Express who ended train splitting (on what was my local line) at Georgemas Junction, making journeys to/from Wick even longer.

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

Unfortunately not as Chideock is a bottleneck on the A35, west of Bridport, especially in the summer. Going down the narrow road to/from Lyme Regis doesn't help either. Definitely a bigger issue in the summer, and journey times are extended in the timetable to reflect this. I can't imagine...

Fave TOC that no longer exists

South West Trains My company operated season ticket loan and I realised that if I bought my Zone 1-3 Travelcard at Clapham Junction, it was an SWT Gold Card. That got me cheap First Class upgrades across the Network SouthEast area, and six free passes a year on South West Trains. That's when I...

WATAG (the West Dorset Western Area Transport Action Group) are asking users and would-be users to complete a survey on the X51 (Axminster - Lyme Regis - Bridport - Dorchester) as they really want to push Dorset Council to help provide an hourly service. There is an hourly service to...

Thank you both for the replies. Rail fares really are a tangled, but fascinating, web!

    Dunbar to Thurso easement

I was just randomly looking at easements affecting the Far North Line. Some make perfect sense, like: journeys to Wick may double back between Thurso and Georgemas Junction in either direction. Another is: customers travelling from Thurso to Wick may not travel via Scotscalder. The third...

I sometimes get a very small ad at the bottom of the page. Like this one for National Express.

Far North Line - three week closure

Just noticed a little thing that rail replacement buses will not serve Altnabreac (fair enough and also Uh-ohhhh!), Scotscalder (fair enough) or Dunrobin Castle. The last one is curious, as the entrance to the station has a layby, so access would seem to be fine.

    National Express Coaches Discussion

With immediate effect, National Express Coachcards have doubled in price. This was in the latest agent bulletin which I can't link to as it's password protected. Public websites have been updated. Now £30

    Grand Central shenanigans

It feels like the right decision. Cancelling the first trains of the day in what is a limited timetable would, I think be more disruptive.

    BusTimes.Org

I believe that companies such as Netflix make far more money from lower subscriptions with ads than the full charge with no ads. But I am taking this off topic. Anyway, well done to bustimes.org, I have found it to be absolutely brilliant.

TravelineSouthEast has been rebranded too. EDIT: I have answered my own question from the Traveline "About Us" website, which Joe Paxton mentioned above. National Public Transport Information Ltd (originally South West PTI), is the not-for-profit company set up by local authorities and bus...
