Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Personally I find the only seats that are acceptable to me as the table seats and the ones with additional leg-room, some of the airline seats in the middle of carriages are dreadful (some worse than others) for a tall person because of the high density seating layout that is used. My legs feel...

GA Class 90 Mark 3 Sets Withdrawal

Pretty much every Norwich service right now apart from the small number that are run by bins or bins subbing for 90s. No new stock is in service on the line yet.

    GA class 156 to EMR

There are no 153s, if all else fails, then your train will be cancelled due to a fault with the signalling system. ;)

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

I was on a Cambridge service to Ipswich that changed from Diesel to Electric at Stowmarket and the speed that it took off at was astonishing, real feeling of power and a massive difference compared to diesel mode. Official figures are: 3 car - 1.3m/s2 (2.9 mph per second) Electric 3 car -...

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

0.98 m/s2 to be exact. Test runs when they were new saw it doing Ipswich to Liverpool Street in just over 53 minutes.

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

No different to what some guards have been openly saying on the local services really. The focus of the front line staff, both on trains and at stations over the past few weeks has been overwhelmingly on assisting the customer during a period of large scale disruption and they have done so...

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

A good few of them have issues and are poor performers with bad acceleration and can't reach near top speed. hopefully EMR will give them a lot more TLC than they've had at Crown Point in the last number of months

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Apparently there are a few 755s with isolated engines at the moment.

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

According to Greater Anglia a fault with the signalling system is impacting lowestoft to Norwich. Ipswich to Felixstowe and Peterborough. Sad it's developed again. Nothing to do with shortage of trains with another 156 withdrawn of course!!

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

The old solution was poor, before the first big timetable change on National Express East Anglia you had two EMU's from Ipswich and two locl hauled sets from Norwich to London which was a bit overkill, admittedly. But killing both of those two EMUs and running a 2 or 3 car 170 through the...

They must have finally fixed the fault then as it was pathetic earlier in the week.

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

156422 has a leak as well from one of the panels above as the conductor found out last Tuesday! I haven't seen any mechanical issues with any of the MK3s I've been on, so can't complain in that regard, although some of the interiors are not in the best shape, one I was on recently had a...

    Class 745 Stadler FLIRTs

A good source has told me now that the expected date of full introduction of these trains has slipped from March to by the end of April following a setback, which I assume is the same setback that caused the 07:40 not to be a 745 a few days ago? Do we know what it was?

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

Still doesn't mean there isn't a shortage of trains, may have been a shuffling of the pack with the 755s put elsewhere for the moment and a couple of 156s leaving the fleet, since two 156s were due to leave this weekend. 156422 is the worst of the lot, guard called it 'snail' last time I was on...

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

Shortage of trains I would guess considering the much higher number of rural cancellations today. I assume 156s have left.

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

According to what I've just heard at Ipswich, the signalling fault has returned on the Felixstowe line and Peterborough line and therefore both are replaced by buses for the whole day. Is this more because a couple of 156s have left, leaving them short?

Greater Anglia New Passenger Information Screens

The number of people asking me 'is this the train to' kind of questions since these boards have gone in is much higher than it ever was before. Particular problem at Cambridge is people getting mixed up between 5 and 6, not helped by the fact the screens confused them. I was asked twice this...

    Greater Anglia Rolling Stock Updates

No doubt we'll see a one in, one out practice with a class 90 being withdrawn and a 745 being introduced rather than a pool of 90s being kept back.

Abellio Scotrail Franchise to end early in March 2022

If you read a few pages of Greater Anglia threads, you will see that spin is probably the thing that Abellio are best at so it shouldn't surprise you at all.
