    Split season ticket validity

The routeing guide doesn't specify how fares with routes other than "any permitted" work (and the Conditions of Travel doesn't say whether you should use the routeing guide at all). My understanding is that web sites all try both approaches, and accept the route if it is valid using one of them...

    National Routeing Guide update

Some more changes to the routeing guide were published this afternoon. Changes from 15 Jan 2020 (290) to 22 Jan 2020 (291). Permitted Route changes: Huddersfield Group (G40) to Warrington Group (G31) gain GM+NO Leeds Group (G16) to Warrington Group (G31) gain MN+NO Stalybridge (SYB) to...

Can't book Dore & Totley to Hereford on 0739 departure

If you've reserved a seat from Sheffield to Stockport, your seat is reserved from Dore to Stockport. I don't know of a way to get a more specific seat reservation than that without dealing with a member of staff, though. Having an itinerary from a web site has a second benefit. If you (or the...

    Chiltern Super Off Peak fares

The Chiltern site also says you need a "valid london travelcard" to make a cross-London journey, even with a "+via Banbury" ticket. Chiltern's super off peak tickets were all OPR ones last year, so I think this is the result of a user interface change.

    Split season ticket validity

It sounds fine. Cheltenham-Bromsgrove "via Worcester" becomes Cheltenham-Ashchurch-Worcester-Ashchurch-Bromsgrove, and you can simply miss out the double back. I'm curious as to how useful this ticket combination is, though, as the two season tickets cost more than a Cheltenham-Birmingham one...

Can't book Dore & Totley to Hereford on 0739 departure

Chinley fails the fare check for Dore here, but Sheffield passes it. This means that NRE* gives an itinerary if you send it to Sheffield and back first. You should be able to buy a ticket by clicking through to EMR. There's no break of journey restriction on any flexible ticket on this route...

Ticket Split / St Leonards Warrior Square advice

Fares priced by Southern tend to be a bit cheaper than ones Southestern price, so you can save a bit by using one of those. A Pevensey Bay-New Cross season ticket with route "via London", for example, is a few pounds cheaper. The route is something like this*. You can miss off the first and last...

Can I overnight break journey on a Super Off-Peak Single (Online)?

I'd comment on this, but the restriction text for 9D is not available on NRE at the moment, and I can't find any information about the restriction code on the LNER site. Perhaps this is only a short term problem, but it may mean that a passenger could buy a ticket without having access to...

    Preston to London

Condition 13.1 of the conditions of travel explain how a ticket with no route restriction should be used, but I can't see anything which tells you how you may use a ticket which does have a route restriction. I certainly can't answer your question. This question is perhaps less relevant for a...

Can I overnight break journey on a Super Off-Peak Single (Online)?

None of this has anything to do with whatever type of ticket the traveller has, though.

Can I overnight break journey on a Super Off-Peak Single (Online)?

It's not a question of right or wrong. The CPS have a test that there must be a realistic prospect of conviction before they will take a case to court. I would expect train companies to do something similar, if only because it would look bad if the public found out they had harrassed someone...

Can I overnight break journey on a Super Off-Peak Single (Online)?

NRE has pages on different ticket types. If you search for a journey on their web site, the page has a few links on it with the ticket type printed on them. Some of these go to a page with information about that ticket type, and (where appropriate) a link at the bottom to a page with information...

    Period Return Glasgow to Edinburgh

They could do that. They could change the route validity of the fare (either by putting something on the ticket or by changing the routeing guide). They could even delete the period returns for a route. I don't know how easy it would be for Scotrail to do any of this, so I'm just being cautious.

    National Routeing Guide update

Some more changes were published this afternoon. Changes from 08 Jan 2020 (289) to 15 Jan 2020 (290). Permitted Route changes: Hitchin (HIT) to Stratford London Gp (G74) gain AS+OV lose KE+OV Stevenage (SVG) to Stratford London Gp (G74) gain AS+OV lose KE+OV These journeys no longer have...

    National Routeing Guide update

You can buy a ticket to "London Terminals" from most (if not all) stations outside the London zones, so asking people to use the routes they would use for one of those has a clear meaning. "London routeing group" is only used in the routeing guide for calculating mapped routes, so I don't know...

    Period Return Glasgow to Edinburgh

I don't think Eskbank-Glasgow has the cheapest period tickets with validity between Edinburgh and Glasgow. While there are cheaper alternatives, this forum may not be the best place to suggest them. Not everyone is glad when passengers save money. Edinburgh-Glasgow is 47.25 miles via Falkirk...

    National Routeing Guide update

I've only just noticed that a new version of the routeing guide instructions was published on 15 November 2019. The only substantive change is the addition of the following paragraph: A NOTE ABOUT ROUTEING WITH OUTBOUNDARY TRAVELCARDS (TRAVELCARDS VALID FROM STATIONS OUTSIDE THE LONDON ZONAL...

    Northern 10p Tickets

They may have all been sold/withdrawn now. I just tried every date for a route which had tickets last night, and it didn't find any of those tickets.

    Northern 10p Tickets

It hasn't ended yet, as you can still find them in the ticket search thing by asking for slower routes. The promotional page has gone, though, so it won't be long.

Missed connections with long gap to booked TOC's next service

First of all, your best option is to ask the guard/ticket examiner before you board the train, or as soon as you can after. No-one you speak to before then will know if there is a reason why you shouldn't board that specific train, so it's harder to find someone with the authority to permit...
