If they demand a real mobile number, but you don't expect to ever need it again, you could use one from somewhere like receive-smss.com. They make money from people who need to receive a message to a number they used a while beforehand, so you should be confident either that you can create a...

For a few months after that nre.co.uk gave blanket permission to break your journey on the return part of any off peak ticket; the most recent copy I know of which allowed this is dated 14/05/2018 (link). The way I read this suggested to me that you think 8A and 2T are the only restriction...

There's a copy of that map on archive.org (map here, thumbnail here). Sadly it hasn't preserved the photos which were on the tooltip things. And sadly nre.co.uk have stopped showing tooltips for the "stations made easy" maps it still hosts. That's pretty painful for stations like Moorfields...

Edinburgh–London maybe (although the off peak return isn't hideously expensive), but Avanti don't offer advance tickets between Chester and Manchester. My point was simply that there are a few "Avanti only" flexible tickets dotted around, not anything about the wider fare system.

They sell other "Avanti only" tickets, such as Edinburgh–London and Chester–Manchester ones, but I doubt the staff at Watford Junction are overwhelmed by people with any of those.

One benefit of using GPS is that there should be plenty of evidence to show where someone who forgets to touch out actually went. I can imagine a future version allowing people to stay touched in all day with the system working out when they caught trains, but they're not there now.

You do, but I think they're only fares which were transferred from TPE when Northern acquired routes like Manchester Airport–Blackpool North. Before then, I think Northern's off peak tickets all had time restrictions. TPE added time restrictions to their off peak fares more recently (so...

The article says they would like the service to join with the Chester–Crewe shuttle when future timetable changes allow. I wonder what changes they would need to make. At the moment, trains between Chester and Wrexham typically arrive and depart between x20 and x30 and ones between Chester and...
