Canada Water, Whitechapel
Also, technically Paddington (Elizabeth Line) - you can touch in at the tube station and get to the Elizabeth Line via the transfer corridor, in fact this is specifically endorsed on the map as the step free way to get to/from the Bakerloo Line.
Once Bond Street opens and through running commences there will be three different direct journeys between Bond Street and Stratford
I suppose there are a few other places on the network where this is also true (especially if you count clockwise/anticlockwise on the Circle as two different...
Yup, all of the newly built stations have extra bits of platform so longer trains could run in future. Although I've read this wasn't specified up front on the 345s so it'd have to be an 'after market' modification. Plus the real issue is that an 11 car trains would need serious works...
Wasn't the Core specified for 30tph or am I imagining that?
Anyway I know it's not really directly comparable. I would guess the CBTC signalling can do a lot to control platform approach to avoid trains queueing and also the 345s have pretty decent acceleration compared to a lot of older...
I'm honestly surprised there aren't 3 or 4 platform stations elsewhere on the Elizabeth Line!
I guess most sites were constrained in size but compare to London Bridge, which was built with platform alternation for a pre-pandemic morning 28tph peak service into Charing X.
OOC will have four platforms dedicated to the Elizabeth Line - might be enough to turn the whole 24tph service without needing auto reverse. Of course the Elizabeth Line's core frequency may have been bumped by the time it opens, but you'd still be able to turn some proportion of trains at...
ELR300 is 'intended to deliver auto-reverse functionality' but whether it actually delivers it very much remains to be seen given it was intended to work in ELR1xx and ELR2xx releases and didn't!
Assuming we start the clock when you board the train at Liverpool Street and stop it when you step off at Heathrow T2/3:
Liverpool Street to Heathrow T2/3 via XR = 40 minutes
Liverpool Street to Heathrow T2/3 via HX = 11 minutes Liverpool St to Paddington, 10 minute change at Paddington...
If you were looking through the cab window at Paddington you'd see the driver remove their key in advance of an auto reverse (I think I'm remembering that right, correct me if not!).
And of course the most obvious sign would be trains arriving back on the Eastbound with no driver in the cab...
Plymouth's railway station is orientated wrong. Ideally you'd want a the main entrance pointed at the eastern end of the City Centre but instead you exit into no man's land and have to take a series of awkward roundabouts and bypass roads to get anywhere useful!
Pretty strong corroboration. Although (unrelated to beginning of through running) - I thought the peak trains into Liverpool Street high level were only running on weekdays?
There were a considerable number of late night Charing X - Cannon Street - London Bridge services during the closure of the Charing Cross platforms at London Bridge during the Thameslink rebuild.
Didn't there used to be some SE peak services from Blackfriars to Kent House via Herne Hill & West Dulwich? For a while they were run as Thameslinks before London Bridge and Bermondsey Diveunder were finished, but after that was all done they were going to run as Southeasterns and terminate at...
