The proposed route for Bedford - Cambridge doesn't use any part of the guided busway. At the Cambridge end, it leaves the existing railway before Foxton, heads northwest to Cambourne, then basically follows the A428/A1 to St. Neots and Tempsford.

Yeah I get that and if we had a rolling electrification program I think I'd be okay with a "do it as required" approach. But I think once built with discontinuous, it's very likely just to stay that way forever, regardless of need.

Still going for discontinuous electrification then. In my opinion, a decision that will turn out to be a mistake in the future. It will make it harder for freight to transition away from diesel and make rolling stock and operating costs higher than they could be.

Yes, Huntingdon has barriers. I don't use the station that often, but they aren't always in use. Sometimes when getting in late they have been open.
