London Bridge - new timetable during reconstruction works commencing 5th January 2015

Given it's a management contract it does not surprise me there are corners cut like this. I can't imagine there are many incentives to provide more than the absolute bare minimum?

But I also wish it wrapped the text when there isn't a via. I sometimes get a 387 terminating at Elephant & cast (or similar) on the front. Looks silly with the second line beneath it blank

Catering Manager sacked for telling Passengers the truth

I think ringi's point is that the RMT should be helping his case at an ET, not calling for strike action (which is disproportionate given there is an independent process for dealing with these kind of incidents).

Correct approach to onward travel on disrupted journey with Oyster

I would suggest that if booking engines were not offering the ticket then 99.99% of the population would assume one wasn't available for the journey. That is something the industry should be forced to solve.

Trivia: Unrealistic Trains on the Big Screen.

Given it was filmed at Charing Cross with Jubilee line trains (either that or I'm terribly confused!) And the fact the destination was Westminster quite why they didn't just say it was the Jubilee I have no idea!

Often it is that quick yes (although I still think that is a design flaw) but it was more like 20-30 seconds and happened at St Pancras, Farringdon, City Thameslink and Black friars which is not normal. Given this seems to be a fairly widespread issue on electrostars I'm surprised it hasn't...

113 (and whatever it was coupled with) this morning decided it wouldn't open the doors at any station in the core (St Pancras, Farringdon, City Thameslink or Blackfriars). I know the 377s and 378s sometimes get in a tis at St Pancras but this was a new kind of awkward. Given it has been...

    the Increasingly Frustrating Thameslink

That would make sense but wasn't what the driver said. He said that it was due to following a slow service, which may have been true once we were on the slows but certainly wasn't the cause of us moving off the fasts. I appreciate drivers don't necessarily have all the information at the time...

    the Increasingly Frustrating Thameslink

I was also on that service and I didn't quite understand why that happened, certainly the drivers excuse approaching St Pancras didn't seem plausible.

    Flooding at Farringdon

This was discussed on a post maybe 9 months back on unsafe guard releases (obviously being DOO its not quite the same on TL), I interpreted it as being a fairly hard and fast rule but it sounds like it isn't. However if ATO knows the train in front isn't moving wouldn't it make more sense to...

    the Increasingly Frustrating Thameslink

During disruption where they either skip stops or add stops etc did they just drop the route numbers or just announce the changes. I think route numbers make a lot of sense but in times of disruption that is when they are surely most likely to be incorrect?

    Flooding at Farringdon

Understand that but in these situations surely you are better not to release the train? The dispatcher had to make repeated announcements to not board the train that had half left.

    Flooding at Farringdon

My understanding is that guards are not to dispatch trains if they would still end up partially in the platform if they do so. This evening on Thameslink the back 4 coaches were stuck on the platform with the front 4 in the Snow hill tunnel. Is the procedure different for DOO services? Will ATO...

    Flooding at Farringdon

On the replacement 7:42 from Flitwick and we left people behind at St Albans. The usual fast 7:40 from Flitwick is 12 cars but they are running this as 8. Is it just a stock placement issue or did they have a choice and still run short? Was fast from St Albans to West Hampstead and I assume all...

    All Eurostar services suspended

The report into the 1996 fire states that the issue is that with a fully loaded articulated lorry the axle weight limit would be exceeded if fully enclosed wagons are used.

    Route Knowledge

There is no more risk surely of an ATO system being hacked and the signalling system today (especially modern ROC style operations). The only slight benefit of a driver in this instance is hopefully a few seconds of emergency braking when they see that the green aspect presented was in fact an...

I have to admit they are quiet and smooth. Also the PIS is much clearer than any train I have ever been on. The one thing I have never understood about the elctrostar family is why the overhead racks are so tight compared to mk3 based stock. Is the bodyshell profile really that different?

    the Increasingly Frustrating Thameslink

Do we know if the change to a management contract has had an effect on how GTR are handling some of their issues compared to a franchise?

    the Increasingly Frustrating Thameslink

It is very frustrating at the minute. Two Bedford trains cancelled back to back last night resulting in a lovely sardine can that did not start to free up in any meaningful way before Luton, as it was an all stopper it wasn't the most fun I've ever had. Appreciate there are a number of factors...

Bi Directional running in the core... & other GTR problems

Most of these incidents recently (other than those sets coming out of Smithfield's) have been power switching related. Is it pure coincidence they happen more often going from DC to AC at City Thameslink of has Farringdon just been lucky?
