One of the easiest ways to counter the it doesn't help the North argument would be this in my opinion. Reduce HS2 down to the western leg with NPR getting a bigger budget to take over some of the connections to Manchester/Merseyside and getting to Leeds that way. I believe an extra 5 minutes was...
Manual announcements both on platform and train. In some ways it makes sense given it now says EMR on the side.
Having met some of the EMR transition team it sounded like there was a fairly good relationship with the EMT management. I've also heard that Stagecoach have very much gone into...
Given the franchise doesn't start until Sunday yesterday at Luton my train was announced as an EMR service, had the EMR Intercity branding and the guard thanked us for travelling with East Midland Railways on arrival. I don't remember much, if any, rebranding on other transfers a week before the...
Whenever I've seen due (happens frequently at Farringdon) it appears to be when it is the "expected" minute but it has not yet arrived at the platform. Given the short signalling sections in the Thameslink core though it may well be in the signalling section as bb21 stated - although it does...
How do you know this is not the case but that for all the planning and contingency in the world it has still slipped? Unless you are closely connected to these things exactly how competent the project delivery has been is impossible to say either way.
Also to those who assume the contract does...
It isn't just a simple case of charging the excess though. The excess in the accounting processes would need to effectively refund the Northern only ticket then sell any any permitted to ensure ORCATS allocations work themselves out I would expect - which is likely more complex than the systems...
That's the equivalent of just over 11 full A320s (in BA spec) - better not to require those flights. And that is just those travelling end to end - plenty of pendolino capacity is taken up with passengers travelling between intermediate stations.
ThamesLink's auto delay repay seems to look at both tap in and tap out time and if it finds a delayed train that matches (I assume the touch out helps determine the train and touch in the origin) it emails you with a link to claim. This is quicker than filling in the normal form as it just needs...
In the 8 years I have been commuting by train the number of times my photcard has been checked outside of renewing my ticket is 0.
Given the DfT are pushing harder for seasons to go on smart cards either a photo printed on the card would seem to be the easiest way to streamline this.
Early on in the franchise I would relatively regularly travel with EMT from St Pancras to Derby on well price first advances and thought they generally did a pretty good job. However these fares seem to have all but vanished and I always now go via Tamworth.
I suspect (although i dont know - there may be some compensating mechanism in the contracts) given franchise premiums will have been calculated with RPI level in mind the DfT my have a few frank conversations with TOCs if they enforced it. I'd be surprised if the bids took no account if it over...
The RMT cannot have it both ways - in the same breath saying passengers are being ripped off opposing shifting the measure which would reduce both costs and fare rises. There simply does not exist a universe where fare rises are tied to a lower inflation measure than pay deals as all that...
Perhaps it is simply a timing thing - I do keep an eye out on the state of play from about 4pm onwards to work out how close to 5 I need to be out the door - which I shouldn't have to do.
The reality of the situation is since E* moved into St Pancras there is no choice but to run the MML...
At this point I don't think the service to Flitwick (that I believe you commute from) is any worse than it was pre May 20th. In fact the morning service is now pretty reliable with some occasional evening cancellations and delays but nothing worse than I'm used to.
The Bedford side seems to...
The 1731 from Farringdon, which is usually a fast service, was swapped over to run all stops to St Albans then picked up it's normal pattern. But I agree it's still poor as stations further down the loop won't have had anything.
I've generally found the MML morning service to run reasonably well recently - it's the evenings that are the killer so I'll hold my judgement until I try to get home!
I was on this and also found it a very strange decision. They seem to have made a habit of adding West Hampstead calls to fast southbound morning services lately but they always announce it after St Alban's so I really don't understand the point.
Last night as I got on at Farringdon they...
I login, add the details of the trains and add bank details. Sure they could remember my bank details and ticket price (it prefills my key number but not the amount for some reason) but claiming has never been simpler...
