    Merseyrail Guards

Although a very short contract, 8 week training brings you close to the temp contract end date of March 20! If you start Jan 20, with only a glimmer of being taken on.

Starting a new career in the rail industry

Andrew, You need to register with all the TOCS that operate in those areas and set up a reminder to check weekly as sometimes the email alerts don’t come Through or end up in your junk mail. West Midlands railways and chiltern spring to mind for your area but also network rail for BHM, they...

    GWR customer Host

Georgy12 I suspect going off what welshgirl01 said that you should get an interview date and then from there depending on the needs of the depot a job offer/medical or go into a talent pool for a job like welshgirl01. Hopefully welshgirl01 you won’t have to wait too long, did your email say...

    Assessment practice material from TOC?

Worth also noting if you don’t get the Ora rice material you will be asked as part of the initial sign in and acceptance of the assessment if you have had and used the practice material, if you say no you will be encouraged not to take the assessment so I would try and get it sorted ASAP.

GWR Reading Guard/Conductor July 2019 Assessment

If it helps I had my stage 1 in Feb 19 and only got stage 2 in Oct 19, luckily got through and am waiting for a position next year.

    First class host to conductor/TM

The good news for the TM one if it’s all happening in one day then they are looking to fill those positions quickly, mind took nearly a year from initial application to likely start date in Feb next year for me.

    First class host to conductor/TM

I would go for the host interview, your stage 1 results are normally emailed within a few days of completion so you probably will know these results before your interview ones.

    First class host to conductor/TM

You’ll have a minimum 6 months once you start where you will not be able to apply for any internal positions, also any TM/Conducter vacancies you will go through the same process as if your were external, only advantage is if you pass stage 1 tests then most are valid for 2 years so won’t have...

Fingers crossed they extend or you get the call

    Transpennine express

Wow that is quite along time, I know railway recruitment is slow, hopefully won’t be much longer, at least you have not been given an end date in the talent pool like some have on the forums.

Applying for another role whilst waiting for assessment?

The only problem is whether EMR class these as two different roles, it’s not so much the role as the department you are controlled in so probably customer service, also if you were to fail any part of the testing then you would have a minimum edit of 6 months regardless of if they class then as...

    assessment ?

From what you have posted then unfortunately you will have had your chances until they change the tests and it’s reset, the 6 months is the standard time between driver test fails. you can still look for a job on the railway though. good luck

    GWR Train manager recruitment

I waited 6 months from my stage 1 to stage 2 and now on a waiting list, that’s how my congratulations email to say I succeeded was worded, not talent pool but waiting list so not sure if the others in talent pools is the same as my waiting list but expect a position to become available in Feb...

    Getting a job with Southern

I fell into the railway by chance, never having read this forum or even to be fair rode a train for many many years and I have to say now I’m in, I love it and wish I had as others I know have joined in there teen years and have 50 plus years to enjoy the railway life. Im in the industry and...

    GWR Train manager recruitment

I would still say for stage 1 you should dress smart, I again for this one wore a suit and bar maybe 2 everyone else wore suit and tie. The 2 that didn’t were still smart casual, this is not a journey you want to be wearing casual in my view.

    GWR Train manager recruitment

Everyone on my stage 2 was super smart, so I’d go with suit etc as I did.

Passed stage 1 conductor assessment 4 weeks ago...

Emma, No it does happen, I suspect they don’t have enough people from the last campaign so have opened it up again, it can take a while so don’t read anything into it. Your stage 2 invite will come but it can take many months upto 7-8 in some cases as I said previously it depends on the...
