Passed stage 1 conductor assessment 4 weeks ago...

Emma, Firstly well done on passing your assessment. 4 weeks is nothing in railway recruitment as many many threads on here will tell you. What role have you gone for? It can be months rather than weeks, as soon as the 2nd assessment is finalised you will get the call. But for now it’s a...

Limit on Job applications for Northern

Depends if the previous job was driver as they are separate to customer service roles such as guards also normally ticket office staff are separate to guards but almost always within the TOCs roles a minimum 6 month wait and on any rejection email/letter will be the 6 month rule shown. John

    Commercial guard SWR

Is the customer service type roles, ie guards, train managers and conductors subject to the 2 strike rule count like with train driving, as I’m led to believe that you can try as many times as you like be it subject to the usual TOC 6 month wait. John

    Customer Host temple meads GWR

Yes it does as it is customer service and customer host falls into that category same as guard etc. I’m sure after six months you’ll be able to apply again, you will need to do the online stuff again but any paper tests you should be fine with for at least 2 years. John

    On board cleaner/CET job wmt

While you will certainly have an advantage over non railway people you will still go through the exact same stages as anyone just off the street for any other position you apply for. Well done on getting the job. John

    CrossCountry Interview Questions

How did you get on, when presenting for your given question were you given any tools or did you have to go off memory? Ie PowerPoint or flip chart, how did you find group excercise?

GWR - online initial train driver assessment

My experience of these tests is if you don’t hear back that’s a good sign. Normally if you fail you here back same/next day, very quickly and then have to wait 6 months before trying again with the same company/role.

    Unsuccessful Application

Although the two strike rule only applies to assessments, most if not all TOCs will say you need to wait 6 months for that particular role before applying again, you should know most again at the first stage will not give much help in what went wrong as they are inundated with applications and...
