A small article in this month's Today's Railways suggests that deliveries of new Class 377s to Southern will allow other Class 377 units to transfer to First Capital Connect which will allow 6 319 units to transfer to Northern to operate the electric service between Manchester and Liverpool in 2014.

Reported in Modern Railways that the service will be operated by Class 456 units once they are transferred to SWT. Presumably through services to/from Waterloo via Richmond will end with those services starting and terminating at Reading instead. Will two cars be enough for usual demand?
