Well take from this what you will but
0700 off GLQ binned due to a failure
0715 off EDB is a double 170 with the front set having some tidy sounding flats
There is some form of 385 sitting disgraced in the sidings at Linlithgow. Can't quite make out whether it's 4 or 7 coaches.
Unless I was seeing things there was a PC swap going on with the refurb set at Haymarket this morning. Looked like a non-refurb PC was backing down onto it.
I suppose when they considered any strategy for easing a PC back into regular service a full speed jaunt to the South wouldn't have been top of the list probably.
Bit unfortunate though.
I had a random thought the other night - would we ever see LNER nab one of the Spare SR 43s to cover for a tech failure potentially? Sure LNER have spares or would just move everyone onto the next service but thought did occur... would look a bit different for sure!
Just a curiosity as obviously everyone sitting tight waiting for the first set to enter service, but any feeling for how far along they are in terms of completing the 2nd set?
Or are we likely to see the first set provide further snagging after some revenue earning service first before we see...
When SR are chucking 158s on late afternoon Edinburgh-Aberdeen's (Fast Haymarket to Leuchars) with mezzanine style seating I.e standing on top of each other) you know this new stock is well needed.
Although I believe this short form 2 v 3 is due to the blockade at Aberdeen?
Ah indeed I remember seeing pictures of that down south, and also for the sleeper down there. Quite the effort.
It does seem a bit optimistic to have no ready means of recovery (both immediate and back to depot) available. Things can be sorted given time but may lead to lines being blocked for...
Following on from the Glasgow test set sitting down last night, do I recall correctly that the recovery plan for HSTs is to grab the nearest freight loco for assistance? Be interesting to see how that plays out I think, given a burst 170/158 can usually be nudged out of the way by a following...
The pressure placed on stock utilisation by the lateness of the 385 is maybe due to ease off given the good news on the 385s and the 365s now in service.
If the HSTs are heavily delayed is that pressure likely to return if more 170s are due off lease (bit ignorant of what goes when)
