Hull to halifax service to be split at leeds

It feels like we need the Clarkson, "Oh No!... Anyway." GIF for this. Is it really so important that the direct service to Bradford exists for Hull?

Refillable water bottles for the win there. Especially with Heathrow T2 having water points nowadays.

    Class 185s post-TRU

So... residual non-electrified services around Manchester unlikely to have speed restrictions for higher mass and where hill climbing capabilities would be good. Buxton to Manchester Mid Cheshire Line CLC Stoppers via Warrington Central (185s already have C-ASDO for shorter platforms). South...

    AWS/TPWS CB

Not to be overly boring on this, but the answer lies initially in GE/RT8000 (Rule Book) TW1 Section 1 Abnormal Brake Applications. This then lies in Para.2 which states you must immediately contact the signaller. Then after this, you're into Defective On Train Equipment guidance from your...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

That would rely on the upper echelons of Managment actually listening to the shop floor to work properly.

Please don't uncover the rock of how "Well" RIR requirements are organised in the post Brexit UK.

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

Does it specify a Sentinel PTS? A lot of ToCs and other organisations now have their own PTS schemes that don't register with Sentinel, this might be the expectation that it is on a general form.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Or perhaps just allow for growth and simplicity. Full fleet of 9x26m units, then you can just buy the same as everyone else (even if they are lacking quality) and then it’s “the devil you know”.

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

Except I suspect that more grab rails would need to be added and the seat risers may well be in the wrong place.

Possible future use of the 323s!? Your thoughts

Scrap, scrap and scrap. Non-standard, extremely challenging parts from supply chains swallowed up into Faiverley / Wabtec / KBRS and not really able to be used on a heritage line without modifications that would be too costly to bear and would still have the same parts issues.

    Dangerous doors on the 1992TS

Like I've said, it's nothing to do with PCM playback. And like @bluegoblin7 said, if this was so traumatic, why not report it to the numerous staff available at Stratford, or any of the stations between there and Epping, several of which have long hours of operating platform duties. As they...

    Dangerous doors on the 1992TS

It uses Mallory Sonalerts mounted above the doors. They age, they break, they get replaced.

    Dangerous doors on the 1992TS

No it does not. 1992TS has had close and open warning chimes from new, driven by the DTS. Changes to it are (or were) part of the RVAR segment of CLIP which required different chimes for open and close functions. Remember that compliance with standards is not generally retrospective to existing...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

One hopes they acknowledge more motorways than the M1 and M25 at some point. If you are stuck with an MSA, it's better to use Waitrose or M&S Concessions anyway compared with the WHSmith Travel units. Although, having just gotten back from a long roadtrip, we get so many things wrong in this...

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

Just a shame that the way the Sanders are designed there's not really any chance of them fitting anything else.

    Short answer. No.

Maybe the fact that Porterbrook / Northern Trains Ltd. are looking to pay money to change the timing characteristics of the doors?

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

I'm not denying SDO is needed, simply that it will swallow up more than they think. Unless of course, they do SDO, not ASDO. The replacement of PIS with TrainFX however, seems wasteful.

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

One did... Although the BTROS system on the 170s from build was having difficulty in being maintained and the wiring changes from that to TrainFX (if you don't "Digital Train" it using them contractors) is a relatively simple changeover. For the 350/2s, the current TrainFX offering won't fit...

Class 350/2s to replace 323s on Northern

When the units won't interwork with anything else and there's literally nothing wrong with (and no obsolescence issue with) the existing SA Viewcom system, why bother? It's a lot of effort and expense in doing quite a bit of ceilings down and re-wiring to fit a full TrainFX system in place of...
