Happens here more often than you'd think. I know from personal experience (a few years ago now) having reported atleast 3 separate passengers who have come here and told a very different story/conversation to what actually happened onboard. I think it's partly to come across as being more honest...
Your posts read as though you 'don't' want them to be able to find out what time you bought the ticket. If that is the case, be careful how you reply to any letter they send you as you don't want to be caught lying to them as its likely to make matters worse for you.
CCTV would show you went to ticket office, it wouldn't show what ticket you showed them. Not saying it was, but it could've been the original 18:18 ticket that you may still have had in your app/email.
Reading your post, it seems a little contradictory. If you knew your railcard had expired, and you didn't mean to use the discount, then why did you present the expired railcard to the inspector? Surely, when asked for a railcard by the inspector your reaction should've been along the lines...
It's a great idea in theory, but wouldn't work. You could be on Slow line with a line speed of 50mph, next to Fast line with a linespeed of 110mph. Sat Nav thinks you're a few metres to the left of current position and tells you to do 100mph instead of 50. You then have differential speeds on...
Unless of course the OP initially gave a false DOB to try and convince the RPI they were a child, then corrected only after being further questioned by the RPI.
Apparently the OP was £1 short. Another passenger gave them a £1. The TM then stole this £1 and walked off, leaving the passenger a £1 short of the fare again.

An Indian man has won a case related to an overpriced railway ticket after almost 22 years.
Tungnath Chaturvedi, a lawyer, was charged 20 rupees ($0.25; £0.21) extra for two tickets he had bought in 1999.
The incident occurred at Mathura...
It can be done once control/signaller etc agree. Some sort of barrier needs to be in place, for us its red & white tape in the emergency cupboard, run a couple of lengths across in front of doors horizontally, find someone responsible like off duty rail staff or police and they are to act as a...
As a driver, I'd like more equality and fairness and have my pay matched with an MPs please. As neither MP, nor us thick drivers need any formal qualification or previous relevant experience.
As we're all expected to make sacrifices to make the railways more financially sustainable, how about getting rid of the overly generous Delay Repay scheme. That should save a fair amount + the admin costs involved.
If the other journeys were after you got questioned in the morning then I don't think it's going to mean much as its no surprise someone would pay for travel 'after' being detected.
What may 'look' better is if you can show you've been making the same journeys on previous days /weeks and all...
The above may be true, but this will come across as very unusual behaviour.
Pretty much everyone I know who works on the railway, keeps their pass with them when they come to work along with staff ID etc.
For the above to be believable, you'd have to be sneaky enough to borrow partners pass...
We do get a discount on P&O if that's of any use to you.
I can't remember howI I did it as it was a while ago, but I think there was a special link to take you to P&O website and then you enter number from priv card for a discount.
Just be aware they will get access to your online purchase history, so if you've been making this 'mistake' daily then they will probably know.
'Any station' is not an option an app will offer. It also suggests you could randomly end up paying for a more expensive journey, whereas you will have...
