    Passengers' experiences during engineering works

I hate to say it, but a lot of the time I've noticed people don't pay attention to the right places which generally advertise planned engineering works. A few weeks ago on my line, trains were terminating at Partick and then there was a replacement bus onwards to Exhibition Centre/Glasgow...

    Station Assistance with no Staff

Thanks for letting me know about that! I'll bear it in mind for next time. However, I do hope there shall not be a next time!

    Station Assistance with no Staff

Hmm, I'll need to look that up. It didn't appear to be the case from what I was told by VT or SR that night.

    Station Assistance with no Staff

Well, I understand that XC have a very large network and having staff to contact at all stations at all hours would push up costs and result in higher fares for us, which none of us want. However, what irritates me is that XC control would have known the train was turning back at Motherwell...

    Station Assistance with no Staff

Well I was on the last train of the day to Edinburgh (one of those bargain XC only tickets) and they turned the train back at Motherwell. No XC staff were available in the station, and ScotRail sent me to the main (Virgin) ticket office. Virgin explained that they could not do anything and that...

Ha, unmaned stations! I've been abandoned by CrossCountry at Glasgow Central before...

    Polmont Station

Sorry I don't actually know the answer to your question, but I understand that Uphall - quite nearby to you - has a shiny new free car park as part of the A-B scheme. Bathgate does as well. Not sure about Livingston North though. Each of these stations is served every 15 minutes to Edinburgh.

Glasgow Queen Street - Central Walking

That map looks recent! I wonder why Borders Bookshop is still on it... :(

    Rail Link to Renfrew

The boat still runs. Albeit, very slowly and at a rubbish frequency. In fact, if we can't have a rail link to Braehead, then my second choice would be clippers along the Clyde, like they have in London.

    Rail Link to Renfrew

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/plan-to-deliver-railway-link-to-renfrew.18802658 Looks interesting. I've always wondered why there's no station at Braehead seeing as the railway already stretches all the way down there from the Glasgow > Paisley Gilmour St line. Also, dare I suggest, if it...

    Ticket to anywhere

Glasgow Queen St to Glasgow Central. One has to buy a return to Partick as Queen St and Central are treated as the same station - despite being 10 minute* walk apart. *I'd say 10 minutes average. Call it 6 or 7 if you're young, fit, and running to catch your connection. 15/20 minutes if...

    Compensation for early running?

Really? Interesting. I've always wondered if there was something up with the timetable on that route. Eastbound trains are always - always on time (this may explain your early, however, Dalmarnock is after Bridgeton?) Westbound trains are pretty much consistently two or three minutes late...

Hourly Train From Aberdeen to Newcastle

It would also allow XC to not have to stop at Dunbar etc providing a faster service from Glasgow to Newcastle (which EC no longer operate - except once a day).

Hourly Train From Aberdeen to Newcastle

Good Plan. It could be a semi-fast though, calling at Musselburgh, Dunbar, Berwick, Morpeth, Alnmouth between Edinburgh and Newcastle. ? That way the hourly Dunbars wouldn't be required and Turbostars could be used that would be released from the EGIP project.

    Goings on at Dundee

It's nice to see change, and I'm sure the new station will be very practical and have all mod cons... However! I do quite like the current station building. I always thought it looked like what people in the 80's thought the future would look like, complete with flying cars and such...

    Newcastle to Glasgow

I'd double check, but I do actually think the answer is yes you can spend a few hours in Edinburgh. The official line from ScotRail is, and always has been, that Edinburgh to Glasgow services are all completely unreservable. Therefore, unless you fall foul of the only other restriction on...
