This isn't 'the' answer to your question, but I once heard that (within the Glasgow City boundary), Dalmarnock was pretty low down the list. However, that was within the comments on the Evening Times' website under the story about the refurbishment of the station.

I understand the Lothian Buses discount is only available to students studying in Edinburgh. It would be silly to offer student discount to a UCL student visiting Edinburgh for a few days, however it is a bit unfair on students at Livingston-based colleges who likely have a need to travel...

Awful news - sounds like a Swiss Beeching! I've travelled by rail in Switzerland and it was excellent. If this really does go ahead it'll be sad to see their wonderful network butchered away.
