Is it not possible to put a link in where the lines cross at Yeovil? I don't think having trains reversing out of stations is something TOC's like very much.
Yes i think its a good time to do it a 4 day weekend some works take longer than just a Sunday and it's an obvious time to do it that will cause least disruption. I always think of the crews who work over holidays when a lot of other people are not working.
I've often thought that more flexibility needs to be brought in. There are times IMV when private companies is a good idea a relatively small operation like the Chiltern Line it works well and Marylebone is well used. But i would like to see the major routes publicly owned and run they don't...
My condolences to the families and work colleagues of the people who died who appear to have been an engineer and a train conductor. Tragic happens overnight and family and family may have woken to the news.
I think the problem trying to run 2tph only between Reading and Southampton you'll get a back up behind the stopping services there's not enough capacity on the line for fast services. Seems like the Southern ones take forever to work along the coast. Two SWR an hour wouldn't work imv.
Just at Paddington now 800010 service from Paddington to Swansea at 16.37 has just been diverted via Gloucester calling at Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse, Gloucester then Newport. Original line of route was Swindon to Newport non stop.
I went on the Northern City Branch today by total chance as i was at Moorgate due to engenering works. What a pleasure it was to see the old Network Southeast signs still in place. Like a short trip back to the 80's.
I must say that working on the western Region it's nicer to say I work for "Great Western Railway" got more history to it. I like it as it's not British Rail they may as well be "regional companies" even though they aren't.
Some stock that's being replaced is still quite new, you have five 360 units from Heathrow Connect that will soon be available anyone know what will happen to them once TFL have brought in the 345's fully?
TFL have a brought in contractors since 2017 they have 2,800 people that clean station and trains ABM UK have a five year contract. They do a very impressive job. Big budget and large workforce is the difference.
I would like to wait at a station that's unmanned at night, normally with a side gate to get in and out and you could probably sleep on the platform bench and not be desturbed by anyone. Central stations don't like people hanging around who aren't about to travel especially overnight when...
Interesting from the Mayor that he sees that potential, nothing about Abbey Wood suggests the terminus is permanent. However i would not of I lived in SE London want to lose my connection with London Bridge and CX. Planning shows Crossrail doesn't share stations they take them over fully. TFL...
The case for an alternative route to the SW is something i think is a possibility and much needed after the Dawlish Sea Wall problems last year kind of crazy only one route in and out of a while region.
Think maybe two services a day one in each peak probably to start hopefully GWR give this a...
I email GWR and suggested this service to Windsor and Eton Central with one stop at Slough but they said it wasn't practical because there's no cross over to the main London bound line at the junction so they said it wasn't practical to stop services at Platform 2 heading to London. So I believe...
At the station i work at on the GWR main line we've had our fair share of suicides it's a very selfish act in my view you leave it up to railway workers to see sights that never leave you.
I have been offered counciling to process sometimes it comes to you when your home at work your too busy...
I can see it going beyond Abbey Wood eventually weather it's worth going to Ebbsfleet when there's a fast service to London already. I think Dartford certainly possible connects up with Kent better.
Have also seen Stains suggested eventually in the West.
