Confused by TPE Rolling stock strategy?

Try being Northern - surely the award for most types in a fleet must go to them?

TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates

I am sure one of the posters with inside knowledge at TPE said a while ago that a 6th carriage was a possibility for the 397s and this was being looked at. I would not rule it out.

TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates

These units look fantastic - can’t wait to try them when I head up to Edinburgh. How long before a 6th carriage is added though?

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

I was getting on a Northern service to Stalybridge last night around 1700 at Manchester Vic and I could have sworn I heard a 68 go through. Are they operating through Vic on test runs?

Should Grand Central replace their 180s?

I remember an article back in the day when the 180s and 220/221s arrived in the UK. The article concluded that the 180 was a better unit. Just compare reliability now between the 180s and the Voyagers. Night and day. The Voyagers have actually been a great success in terms of reliability...

    Class 365s to Scotrail

If only they had gone ahead and built the new stations at East Linton and Reston by now. The 365s would have been perfect for an Edinburgh to Berwick stopping service. I am sure they said at one point that they didnt have suitable or spare rolling stock for such a service. The 365s would...

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

Seemed to be a much better performance that usual at least from Stalybridge this morning. Long may it continue.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

The 1754 and 1854 Man Picc Northern services are down as operating to Marsden only on Real Time trains. I didn't realise that some of them operate in service between Huddersfield and Marsden as separate services though.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

I see the Northern peak extras now operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Marsden only rather than through to Huddersfield.

TPE Nova 1 Class 802/2 Progress

The TPE 802 has just gone through Leeds.

TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates

I’m sure it was mentioned a while back that there were proposals to lengthen these trains to 6 car fairly quickly.

DfT e-mails leaked to Lisa Nandy MP

Yes that is what I think might get interesting. Not covering themselves in glory really.

Platform 15 and 16 project at Manchester Piccadilly.

Yes and there were at least two occasions last week as well.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

First on time TPE train since the new timetable started this morning and dare I say it everything seems to be going well so far today.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

This train to the airport that I am on will no longer go to the airport and will terminate at Piccadilly like many many others recently. Shambles.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

It seems to have all gone mammories skyward again this afternoon - the Liverpool service has been sitting in Leeds for 25 mins without a driver and it looks like several services are delayed at Huddersfield.

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

That was my point before, this timetable is not robust at all and the slight delay has serious knock on effects. At least with the previous version there was a bit more scope to recover. I fear it is going to be like that for a while now. I would be interested to know out of all the TPE...

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

Surely we should be able to make changes to timetables without chaos ensuing. It doesn't really paint a good picture of the rail industry to the average passenger. My point was about the robustness of the new timetable - it seems that single incidents can have much more profound knock-on...

TransPennine Express North Route, New Timetable

I see TPE are being absolutely bombarded with complaints about the service reliability on twitter! It really isn’t good enough to be honest and the excuses are even worse. What we have is a timetable that’s about as robust as a chocolate fire guard.
