New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

As a former East Linton resident and somebody that will use the train to get home to see the family, this is excellent news.

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

Hardly any will change from the bud to the train I’d imagine. East Linton is very walkable anyway. I believe the station will be developed in tandem with the works at Markle to remove the current level crossing and replace it with a new over bridge further east.

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

Presumably it’ll be run with 802s?

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

https://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/19619753.trains-set-stop-dunbar/ East Lothian Courier suggesting that East Linton will also be served by the new TPE services and these will increase to 7 per day in each direction from May 2022. The extra two services will only operate between Edinburgh...

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

I think it was mentioned before though that an hourly Dunbar stopper could be timetabled in without penalising the long distance services eventually. Hopefully this is still the case.

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

To be fair that’s why I was asking the question. I would hate for the station to open with only a handful of trains.

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

Presumably since the station is being part funded by the ELC and the Scottish Government, there will be some sort of incentive for Transport Scotland to push for a regular rail service. It will be interesting to see what is proposed.

New East Linton Station - Progress & Updates

Great news that the station has been approved. I was brought up in East Linton and folks there have been campaigning for years for the station to reopen. I just hope that the future train service is an hourly service to Edinburgh (whether by Scotrail or TPE) rather than the meagre 5 trains a...

Various consultations on the May 2022 East Coast Mainline timetable

Suspect an East Linton call would be added into the local service once the station is built.

    Most Unreliable Multiple Unit

It seems despite the slagging they get and the daily pounding they take (especially with XC), Voyagers seem to be pretty reliable units. They have always impressed me despite the fact they are way too small.

TransPennine Express Nova 1 (Class 802) Diagrams

Yes thanks looks like it will be the 397 up the west coast for now then.

TransPennine Express Nova 1 (Class 802) Diagrams

Any idea when these will start running back up to Edinburgh hourly. Going north soon lol and wanted to try one out.

TPE services allocated for Double units

Sorry if I’ve missed this in all that’s gone on recently but are TPE keeping the extra 185s. Most Huddersfield and Hull services ex Piccadilly seem to be 6-car at the moment.

TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates

Manchester to Edinburgh in a little over three hours is great now. Saying that we did miss Oxenholme and Penrith today. It has got noticeably less bumpy the further north we’ve travelled but maybe that’s just me. They are a big improvement on the 350s though.

TPE Class 397 ('Nova 2') construction and updates

My first time on one today too. The seats definitely let them down as they rattle about something awful. But the actual unit doesn’t hang around, has a pleasant atmosphere onboard and it looks absolutely fantastic. Sleekit is the word I’d use to describe them.

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

To be fair the 185s have been run fairly hard recently to cover for all the new trains that are taking longer to come into service. I’d imagine they will need a bit more TLC when there is more slack in the fleet over the next few months.

    TPE 'Abysmal' Performance

Things are slowly getting better. I believe there are 11 Nova 1s and 4 Nova 3s out daily now which has made a huge difference. Many South Transpennine Routes are now 6 car 185s, as are alot more Picc to Hull services. I travelled on both the Nova 1 and Nova 3 to Liverpool last week...

TPE services allocated for Double units

Definitely noticed the increased 6-car Hull services lately. What an improvement

TPE Nova 1 Class 802/2 Progress

First time on an 802 yesterday between Liverpool and Manchester. They are very nice and a vast improvement. Already booking a Stalybridge to Edinburgh round trip for next month.

TPE services allocated for Double units

1K08 07:05 Hull to Manchester Picc is 6 carriages usually. Was onboard this morning.
