    Railways in Pop Culture

Not 'pop' culture and only toy trains, but in Obsession with Robert Newton 1949, a model railway plays a significant part !

Why are 9Fs banned from the national network? (What's wrong with flangeless wheels?)

92167 ended its days as a 2-8-2. Plenty of photos of it on shed, but none that I can find out on the road

Time lapse following route of GCR on BBC website

I was there on the last day travelling from Harrow on the Hill to Brackley and then back to Marylebone. Had spent the previous couple of years travelling Harrow to Marylebone every Saturday (half single 1/3 in old money) on the 11.15 from Nottingham Victoria. Back to South Kenton on the Bakerloo...

Disused or mothballed railway lines with track still in place

There's a loop on the up side all the way from Hartlepool to Seaton still connected, but obviously never been used for years, overgrown with bushes and trees, yet it received colour lighting when the coast line was resignalled about 5 years ago.

Look inland though and there is...

    Durham Coast on Saturdays

So, here's me going to Hartlepool for the match, as every home game, but today a coupled up pacer and sprinter turned up. Now every Saturday, the normal 2 car Pacer or Sprinter is pretty full, and at Hartlepool the crowds of hen/stag types get on for Newcastle. There were even RPI's at...

Sick of saying it on several other similar type threads, but Hartlepool.......what a lack of foresight when the up platform was taken out of use. Quite a bottleneck now.
