What sort of documentation/proof is there that a name or numberplate is genuine? Or indeed a lot of railway relics that sell for a lot of money. I can't imagine there is much supporting paperwork for items from the 50/60's.

Interesting thread about Deltic cascading (or lack of). Back in steam days, I always found the sight of Britannias on the Marylebone to Nottingham 4 carriage semi fasts rather sad. On the other hand A4's on the Glasgow to Aberdeen expresses were a fine sight so hardly demeaning!

Very few to the Boro. After all middlesbrough is in Yorkshire whereas sunderland is a proper County Durham town (city)? I think a lot of people from Hartlepool get on at seaton on a Saturday because it is often standing room only from hartlepool. There is a late night train from Newcastle...

Living right next to Seaton Carew station I probably account for at least 300 of those journeys. One thing that 'strikes' me is that before the months of strikes last year, on Saturday mornings there would be at least 20 - 30 people waiting to go to Sunderland/Newcastle football, stag/hen types...

While waiting at Hartlepool after the match it was announced that the 17.26 to Whitby would be 15 minutes late due to overcrowding. Duly arrives 15 minutes late and empties of Sunderland supporters!!!

This one really gets me. 2N40. Newcastle - Stockton via the coast, arriving at 1833, then continues as 5N40. Stockton to Darlington at 1835, so effectively a through Newcastle to Darlington train via the coast. Why not class it as such?
