    Signaller Selection Day

I was a little surprised too, mostly as I had spent much of my prep time reading up on the business, values, routes, future plans etc and non of these came up. I wasn't even asked about the safety vision or lifesaving rules which I though was mandatory so they must have been using their own...

    Signaller Selection Day

I wrote a short paragraph, between 3 and 8 lines for each question. However, I have also applied for a post whilst away from home and just wrote available on request into every box and still got through, so i'm not sure how much they matter for sifting. It has been said on the career as a...

    Signaller Selection Day

Yes I was offered a post, but then also received an offer at a higher grade closer to home so turned the Ely offer down in the end.

    Signaller Selection Day

No additional online tests. Just the network rail standard ones that you do at home when you first apply. There were 12 people there on my day, and there were 3 days of assessments in total, however this was for lots of vacancies across multiple grades and there were a few LOMs there from...

In addition to the online tests. The material for the assessment day was devised and written by the Ely LOM.

    Signaller Selection Day

Ely LOM held an informal assessment centre around 6 months ago to fill several vacancies. I imagine this may be similar. If so the format was as follows: A group discussion about which items to use in a fictional emergency to test communication. A 5 minute concentration test a little like a...

By new deal, would that mean harmonised conditions accross the company? What terms are currently proposed and are they looking likely to make it in smoothly / any time soon?

Greater Anglia Vacancies -Trainee Mainline Driver

I don't know any stats for GA, but Northern quote their pass rate as 96%. If you apply yourself and don't have a drink/drug problem then you should be fine.

    A career as a signaller

Yes to both. Your results will be stored and used for every application and I would highly recommend applying for all of the roles that you are happy to travel for. There is no penalty for multiple applications. Many people receive rejections before landing a job with the same application...

Northern Trainee Train Driver Roles- Various Locations

I know of 2 people in the last year from a Police background that have passed everything with other TOC's but been rejected at sift stage by Northern. It may help provide some of the evidence they are looking for, but it certainly doesn't buy you a free pass.

Northern Depot Drivers x 2, Blackburn

Not advertising a salary in roles where pay is open to negotiation based on experience and expertise etc is fair enough, but when there is a union agreed, set pay level, which (I presume) is the same for every employee in that role, it's not great practice to list everything you want from...

    Northern, Buxton Depot

Hi all, could anyone kindly assist with any knowledge of routes and traction signed by Northern drivers at Buxton. I've been searching and can find lots on Northern's bigger depots but very little for Buxton. I can see that a much of the work will be along the Buxton line to Piccadilly. Does...
