    Johnsons Excelbus - Route 7

Please note that from 5th - 11th July 2021 route 7 WILL NOT be serving Oxhill due to a road closure of Kineton Road in the village. Alternative travel from the Stratford-upon-Avon direction is by way of the UBUS DRT service - I can assist further with this if you wish to use it, as am involved...

    PSV mechanic serving Leicester

Paul, who runs Avenger Vehicle Services, offers a mobile mechanic / breakdown service from Leicester, I don’t know whether he’d do something like what you’re after but could be worth an ask. https://www.yell.com/biz/avenger-vehicle-services-ltd-leicester-1460305/

Is it legal for Sussex Coaches to refuse to accept ENCTS bus passes on their N8 bus route?

I would invite those members who believe the operator to be acting improperly here / calling the fares a "scam" to consider the expertise and investment needed to operate a safe and compliant PSV operation. Consider the requirements for professional competence, financial standing, off-road...

    Miserable bus drivers and complaints.

As the manager of a (small, 5 vehicle) bus operator, I like to think we do our best to support and look after our drivers. I hold a PCV myself - and use it! - and our recently appointed Operations Manager is about to start training. My question is, for drivers who say they were treated poorly...

Railway worker fatally struck by train at Purley (06/11)

An added challenge here is that many staff, especially those in the bus industry, who tend to be lower paid than the rail industry, want as many hours as they can get. This is often from a place of necessity so that they generate sufficient income to live, and also because work availability can...

Bus Passenger Rights - Stranded If Last Bus Cancelled.

Interestingly Centrebus, who are not known as being an overly customer-friendly operator, have this information on their website. The relevant section would be "No alternate service that day" so as long as the taxi wasn't four times the single ticket you'd be fine, but given the cost of rural...

Getting from Derby to Peterborough by bus?

Would you consider using National Express? If so, I would suggest NX440 to Leicester then NX350 to Peterborough. A pleasant journey via country roads, and not overly expensive, albeit you don't get a huge amount of choice over when to travel!

Getting from Derby to Peterborough by bus?

I would have to disagree with this, the time saving of using the Red Arrow is approximately half an hour compared to i4 / Indigo / Y5 and the price differential for a single ticket is only £1.60 (£3.60 single on i4 / £5.20 single on Red Arrow).

    Free bus services.

In Loughborough, Kinchbus operate the Campus Shuttle from one end of the Loughborough University campus to the other. This is a free service, with no ID required. During Monday to Friday term times the Sprint bus service is also free from the Holywell Park end of Loughborough University as far...

    Ticket machine software

I use the Ticketer portal in my job, and it is very interesting because it shows tickets purchased and vehicle positions in real time etc. However, in order to "play" meaningfully you need to actually have buses out there for you to watch / interact with, so you'd need access to an operator's...

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

I purchased such a ticket around a month ago (although I practically had to issue it to myself, the driver didn't know how his machine worked) on the 19 in Nottingham, so I would be surprised if it has been withdrawn since then - it is likely to be that it was forgotten when they introduced...

School or Works local bus service

If a bus service is registered as a local bus service, but as a "school or works" service, does this mean that the operator can prevent other passengers from boarding if they're not from that school? And additionally, if the operator cannot prevent those passengers from boarding, are they under...

    A few questions about Megabus

I believe they are, yes. A few weeks ago I was on a Megabus and got chatting to the driver and as we got to my local area he asked me to show him a bit of route he'd been wanting to learn as a potential diversion route; we just took to coach that way instead. Didn't miss any stops or add any...

    TrentBarton/EVR ZigZag Choo Choo abolished?

It was withdrawn a few years back I'm afraid as part of a simplification of the ZigZag offer - a shame, as I used one (albeit only once) and found it very good.

General bus fare questions (Greater Manc operators)

There are of course two sound commercial reasons for increasing single fares by disproportionately higher amounts. Firstly, a passenger making a single journey is less likely to be able to switch to other forms of transport - in particular, if they only want to go one way, they can't really go...

TRIVIA: Bus routes/services that are no longer

The 22 went when they did their review of services in the Rushcliffe area; the Rushcliffe Villager now covers much of the route. I don't remember a Bakewell - Derby - Leicester bus although that does remind me of the "Red Arrow On Tour" they ran one summer from Nottingham to Bakewell via Derby...

TRIVIA: Bus routes/services that are no longer

The 747 from Leicester to Uppingham is soon to be no more due to Centrebus cuts. Trent Barton have withdrawn a number of services in recent years, including Ruddington Connection, Leicester Xprss, Long Eaton Xprss, Sawley Xprss, Commuter Xprss (there's a theme here!) and their 22 service. Of...

    Cheery Scotrail Journeycheck message.

This is spot on. A confident yet friendly delivery goes such a long way. As long as all concerned delivering such announcements have the necessary logistical and grammatical skills, it works really well. It's great to see stuff like this and I'd hope that if on the off chance any Scotrail...

    Head on collision in Italy

That sounds both concerningly antiquated, and also very similar circumstances to those which led to the Quintishill rail disaster. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quintinshill_rail_disaster My thoughts are with all involved, rail accidents like this are fortunately rare but very severe when...
