What free bus services still operate in the UK. I am talking about anything other than supermarket free bus services which are already covered in this thread - https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/supermarket-free-bus-services.165334/ - which can be viewed on this link.

Also i am only talking about bus services which any passenger can board and travel for free without showing any pass or anything like that. I am not including any bus services where you need a special pass or id card.

These are all the ones that i am aware of so far:

Bolton:
• 500 - Vision Bus - Bolton Town Centre Bus

• 900 - Arriva Bus - Braintree to Braintree Freeport

Stockton Council run some community bus services that are free to all, though you need to sign up for a pass to use them. The reasoning behind them being free is they'd have to pay the drivers a higher wage to take fares than what they'd gain in revenue, apparently. There are restrictions where they parallel commercial bus services though.

In Loughborough, Kinchbus operate the Campus Shuttle from one end of the Loughborough University campus to the other. This is a free service, with no ID required.

During Monday to Friday term times the Sprint bus service is also free from the Holywell Park end of Loughborough University as far as the Students Union (towards Loughborough), and from Loughborough College to Holywell Park (towards Loughborough University).

Arriva operate Nottingham University's Hopper Bus Network - these are also free, with no ID card required (although if you do have an ID card you can tap on to record your journey). Services as follows:

901 - Sutton Bonington Campus to University Park Campus
902 - King's Meadow Campus to University Park Campus
903 - Jubilee Campus to University Park Campus
904 - Royal Derby Hospital to University Park Campus

York:

66 & 66A within the boundaries of the University of York, operated by First York. Free travel for all users between the Wentworth College roundabout stop and their respective terminals of Heslington East Interchange and York Sport Village.

There is also the UB1 which connects the South side of the West Campus with the East Campus, but only runs in university term time. Operated by First York, usually with an electric bus from the Park&Ride fleet used on the 7 & 59 Park&Ride routes.

The last time I was in Southampton the bus from railway station to
the departure point for the ferry was completely free of charge.

The bus from Southampton Central Railway Station to the Ferry Port is no longer free unfortunately. You have to pay for it now.
