Afternoon all.

I need to be in Oxhill either next Saturday or the following Saturday, but have been suffering great confusion as to whether the bus service I intend on catching actually serves Oxhill.

I shall be getting a train to Banbury, and then the 12:00 departure (route 7) from Banbury Bus Station.

The Johnsons Excelbus website says that the 12:00 departure from Banbury does not serve Oxhill, and instead serves Ratley.

Timetable shown below:

Now, bustimes.org says the 12:00 departure from Banbury does in fact serve Oxhill(?!) accompanied with "tracking maps" from previous days which show this.

Timetable shown below:

EDA0EE56-F214-40C1-8670-9A75876983B7.jpeg

Tracking map shown below:

I emailed Johnsons Excelbus for clarification on this matter and their response was, "No, it does not serve Oxhill at that time. Unfortunately we have no control over what other websites publish online."

So, does the Saturday 12:00 departure serve Oxhill or not? Surely the "tracking map" can't be incorrect, but the operator is quite sure it doesn't...

Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks. :)

If the company itself has told you that it doesn’t serve the area, then why wouldn’t you trust that? They even say that what other websites publish is outside of their control.

Not strictly true in this case as the bustimes timetable is taken from Johnson's open data source so they're supplying the incorrect information (assuming that bustimes isnt deliberatly changing the data for this one specific service!). And the tracking data comes from their vehicles of course. And todays's 12.00 (not a Saturday of course) is showing as being near Oxhill now.

Because all the previous 12:00 departures are shown as tracked on the route through Oxhill, and don't go anywhere near Ratley?
The website that “tracking” is taken from even says it can’t be relied upon as it’s taken from a different website itself. Why bother even asking the company if they serve the area if you’re just going to ignore their answer anyway?

Looks like the company's website timetable has a misprint showing the 12:00 (and 17:50) from Banbury as running via Ratley rather than via Oxhill.

It looks as if their data feed contains the correct information.

In response to why I "bothered even asking the company", I was hoping for some clarification on the matter. Perhaps the reply could have been that there was a change in the timetable (which I hadn't known about), that there was a misprint, that Ratley was request only and the bus ran via Oxhill otherwise (a long shot, I know, but not impossible), etc.

Not very clever of you to assume I spent time writing an email just to "ignore" it.

And for what it's worth, if I was "ignoring" their answer, then I probably would've been 100% adamant that the information on bustimes.org was correct, but I'm not, hence why I started this thread.

Thanks. I initially thought the same, as it seemed a bit strange to have the last Stratford-bound bus at 09:27, although in rural areas, you never know. :D

I think if the bus does somehow run via Ratley on the day, however, I'll probably have to get off at Little Kineton and walk from there!

Please note that from 5th - 11th July 2021 route 7 WILL NOT be serving Oxhill due to a road closure of Kineton Road in the village. Alternative travel from the Stratford-upon-Avon direction is by way of the UBUS DRT service - I can assist further with this if you wish to use it, as am involved in the management of this service. I am also told by Warwickshire County Council that travellers to / from Banbury will have taxi fares reimbursed, but I don't have further details on how this would happen, if it would be useful I can ask however.

Thanks for the heads-up - wasn't aware of that! Won't be an issue if I'm travelling on the 17th (most probable), but if I'm travelling on the 10th and require help/assistance, however, I shall get in touch.
