Ladies/Gents/Boys/Girls
I'm travelling to Taunton on the 28th with the eventual destination being Minehead for a stag weekend. I'm looking at getting the 1106 ex-Paddington, arriving Taunton 1258.
Is this normally a busy service?? Am I likely to get a seat?? Finally, does anyone have any...
Folks,
I had the pleasure of riding on the tram system in Nottingham yesterday into the city. We went from Wilkinson Street to Old Market Square, which is quite a hilly route. I found myself rather puzzled about the trams. How on earth do they go up and down the hills without slipping??
GoVia Thameslink are looking for Guards based out of Selhurst and Victoria. Be aware that it states you need to be within easy reach of your chosen depot. Best of luck to anyone applying...
EMT are currently recruiting for Guards based out of Nottingham. 31k a year, closing date is 1st of November. Should be a decent route and traction card based there, too.
Best of luck if you fancy it.
So I was thinking today while I was working an express. Does Waterloo have the most platforms of any UK station? If it doesn't, which does?
Also, I saw something somewhere that showed a train calling at Leeds that was booked to use platform 8D. What is platform 8D?? I assume it's like...
Alrighty folks.
As some regular readers will be aware, I'm just about to do my driver tests for London Midland.
I am only required to do the second part - so the stuff that's done on the computer - as I have a first part test pass from Govia Thameslink. I have failed the second part...
Afternoon folks
Found myself at Rugby between trains early this morning, and got chatting with one of the Virgin dispatchers. We were discussing the possibility of Virgin taking over the LM franchise when it finishes next year. Apparently, they aren't even going to submit a bid.
I'm...
Afternoon all
Was having a chinwag with a DRS driver the other day, who was telling me that apparently London Midland approached them with regard to running a loco hauled set - I'm assuming from Northampton in the morning peak. Anyone heard similar?? Apparently DRS turned the work down due to...
Saw a failed class 92 on the Dollands Moor water train being dragged by a 66 the other day. Now obviously, both locomotives are owned by DBS. Who maintains them??
The Dyson is an ex BR loco, whereas the 66, as everyone knows, is an American piece of junk built by GM, so are they maintained...
Afternoon all.
Went and tried the second bit of testing with GTR at Watford yesterday and failed one of the modules. The bit I failed was the 2 handed co-ordination test. My accuracy was good, apparently the speed was too slow. As far as I'm aware, speed wasn't an issue on that test - but...
Afternoon all
Found this on the LM website. Although it doesn't say, I'm reliably informed the salary is around the 25k mark. Good foot in the door for anyone that wants it...
Morning all.
LM are looking for staff again. Here is the link to the site for those of you that want to apply. http://www.londonmidlandcareers.com/templates/londonmidland/jobslist.aspx?raparam=4755304A4E6A483752373145716B72303951386D59336B332F77794D7072796B
Afternoon folks. Booked on spare today but ended up doing a Euston and back.
On the back bit, I saw what was either a 165 or a 166 on the Up Slow in the Leighton Buzzard area.
Anyone know what and why?? I'm assuming it was on it's way back to the WR from Wolverton??
Afternoon ladies and gents. Yesterday I spent the day in LOndon doing all the paper tests with Govia Thameslink to be a driver for them. They've invited me to stage 2 of their assessments in Watford. I know this has probably been asked before, but I don't know where to look, but exactly what...
Apologies if this is in the wrong area, but when I came out of Euston today on my last bit (1413 EUS-BHM) I was hearing the Inspector Sands tannoy call. Anyone know what happened??
Can someone explain to me, in layman's terms, exactly what happens when a franchisee loses the franchise. Let's say your current employer was taken over by Directly Operated Railways, which is government run, as we all know. What would change for us overnight? Would any of the staff be at risk?
Just on the off-chance while nosing to see about trainee Driver jobs again, I see London Midland are looking for Guards.
Closing date is the 7th December, so quickly...
I saw the Southbound steam working into Euston today - actually, it flashed past me in between Apsley and Kings Langley.
What I wanted to know is, when it returned on the second half of the tour, how the hell does it get turned so it's facing the same way? Where does it go for either a...
Am off to Nottingham tomorrow to see my good ladies' family. I think we're also going into the city centre on the tram. I'd like to know how fares and the like work. Do you pay on board, or use a ticket machine?? We'll be going from Basford (I think) to the City. What's the approximate fare...
Evening all.
On thursday I need to go to Charlton in Zone 3. Now, both me and the wife get into London for nowt, due to my employer.
So I'm kinda thinking that the cheapest way of doing it is to get a ticket from somewhere like South Hampstead to Charlton on a priv, purely because I disagree...
