Hardly. Platforms 1 & 2 are pain to dispatch longer trains (8+ coaches) but they are distinctly average, not much worse than Hurst Green on the up, Oxted on the down.
London Road (Guildford) on the down is a nightmare curve even for a 4-car. Brighton Platform 7 is also annoyingly curved...

Southern Turbostars were designated 171 as they were fitted with a different coupler (dellner) to 170s, to enable them to be coupled to 377s in case of a failed unit.
Cab lay-out is also slightly different from 170
