A recent post was discussing the entry policies for VT 1st Class lounges and it was agreed that a FOS Manchester Piccadilly to Stockport -about £2.50-would be cheapest legitimate ticket to enter 1st Class lounge at Manchester Piccadilly.

Also Birmingham New Street to Birmingham International FOS-about £3-would allow entry to the New Street Lounge.

I would be interested to put a list of some of the others for all TOC's together with a particular interest in Crewe-think the rules are you have to travel on that TOC's service into the station or out of the station.

I'm guessing it would be London Euston to Watford Junction fos the Euston lounge and I am guessing Chester or Warrington for Crewe which wouldn't make it cheap but there could be others options for this that I am not sure about-also interested in East Coast and London stations.

I believe, although could be wrong, that a Euston to MK first class ticket would be required for the Euston lounge as Watford Junction is pick up only northbound :)

If your desprate and really wan't to visit the one at Southampton Airport then a £2.90 FOS to Swaythling would do it.

For Padington £2.60 FDS to Shepherds Bush.

Edinburgh Waverley (EDB) to Edinburgh Haymarket (HYM), 1st Anytime single is £2.50. 1st single supplement for the EDB lounge is £5 if travelling on EC advance purchase.

I'm guessing it's also drop off only on the Southbound then in which case Watford Junction doesn't work! Although if it's pick up on the Southbound a FOS Watford Junction to Euston should work!

I've not actually been to Southampton and guess the lounge isn't up too much-having said that it could be very good!

The PDS is useful to know about.

I've tried that lounge-the East Coast lounges always seem a bit dated compared to the counterparts in the West.

Any advance for Crewe then : -)

Euston to Watford Junction and viceversa on Virgin Trains is not possible. There are no fares for either of these journeys.

The East Coast lounge used to be a much nicer place when GNER ran it. There used to be staff in the lounge part itself to serve you at seat with all the usual complimentary stuff as well as the full buffet menu. They had a nice fishtank and a good selection of Sky channels.

Did NXEC get rid of the lounge staff or was it East Coast? I stopped needing to use EDB regularly in 2005.

I visited once a few months after NXEC took over in early 2008 and it was the same as it was under GNER at the time except for the fact they stopped selling buffet items there - but complimentaries were still at seat.

It was early 2008 also when I last used the lounge there!-and remember the at-seat service for the complimentary orange juice and coffee which was quite a good service-not been in since then.

So it looks like Milton Keynes Central then for London Euston-excellent lounge there : -)

That's only valid on LM services though.

I'm thinking Chester or Stoke then-either way not worth it just for lounge entry-will have to try it on when travelling to London next time in 1st-if I can be bothered and have time instead of a direct train.
