    Everything wrong with Pacers

I've not got a problem with Pacers as such, but I don't really think they should form the backbone of intercity stopper services - Sheffield-Leeds, Sheffield-Huddersfield and Sheffield-Manchester and I really don't think use of old bus seats from the 1970s has a place in modern transport. I'd...

Collecting tickets from an unstaffed when the TVMs are out of order

Interesting this, I've had this a few mornings at Dore, the first time I was a tad unsure what to do given I was boarding without a ticket... I didn't go to find the guard because on EMT services the guard generally walks the train a few times on the trip to Manchester - I got my ticket...

    The M20 Footbridge crash

That's eased a minor problem we had on the All Lane Running scheme my firm is working on - the bridge necessitated a couple of departures for the proposed slip roads to the west of that bridge - love it when a plan comes together ;-) Thankfully, no one seriously injured !

    Next 5 years until 2022

1, 185s converted to end door electric stock 2, Air con fixed on 158s 3, 442s repurposed as open top tube stock 4, Power lines finally reach Hungerford 5, Pacers converted to buses in new plan by Souter

    Class 185 "Excess Weight"

So at the moment, members are thinking of replacing the bogies, the interior, the engines and the bodyshell - hmmm... I somehow think a new train might be cheaper ;-). Hahaha

The new Northern franchise - what we know

Thank you - so essentially not much change until Dec 2017 and new services from Dec 2019

The new Northern franchise - what we know

Any firmer timescales yet for when cascades and new rolling stock will start appearing - when do the CAF units start to be built ?

22 class 185 units being released by TPE - Where could they go?

Also, are the 185s that bespoke ?

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

I'll just leave up this here too....

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

Indeed, it's the spin that makes me (and so many others) so tired of the political system we have now. We are a nation more interested in the hype behind Celeb nobody's than the 650 people that actually manage our nation.

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

To be fair, at short notice it's difficult to get two seats together let alone a group of seats. The situation is that the message being put forward that rail isn't fit for purpose has been blown apart by a private rail company that profits from the rail system not being fit for purpose...

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

I'm not actually convinced that any TOC pays enough to cover the costs of the service they provide - the track access costs probably cover some of the maintenance but it would seem that the state has had to get involved to fund new rolling stock and that separate finance is required to build new...

22 class 185 units being released by TPE - Where could they go?

Quite, it's currently my route home too, I like the comfort of the EMT Sprinters, now if they could just get the air con working ;-) Seriously though, the current four carriage setup is starting to be pushed to the limits at busy times, I'm ever hopeful of a better solution on the EMT service...

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

To be fair, neither is Corbyn, he's the leader of the opposition, with the entire media against him. Odds are never going to be in his favour.

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

We don't know, because all we hear is the twisted spin of the various groups in all of this - I don't believe any of the hype in the press these days, but it's very interesting at the membership want Corbyn, yet the parliamentary group don't... I'm tired of the same old politics, time for...

22 class 185 units being released by TPE - Where could they go?

Which is why the wise money is on splitting the service at Nottingham - keep the Sprinters for east of Nottingham. Although, I've noticed that the 158s seem to run faster on the Hope Valley than the 185s - is that my imagination or a potential issue ?

22 class 185 units being released by TPE - Where could they go?

No, this is a silly idea, Siemens have moved on with their Desiro product and are very unlikely to want to build a small order of specialist carriages that are compatible with a product that is currently 10 years old and a design that's at least 15 years old. Not only that, transforming them...

Rolling stock announcement regarding TPE (updated)

Seems like the 700 series is being reserved for larger fleets ? Will the 600 series ever get used ?
