Down that way this morning and haven't noticed tgem on the platform before. They do match up to where coaches 1 to 6 would line up from the 'S' board, strange there only on that platform and I haven't seen them anywhere else.
Last time I did this I informed the relieving driver another long in the tooth guy like myself he said he does this as well,I may be wrong on this but the way I look at it is you can't brake a wheel that's not turning.
As I said earlier in the conversation I have when the brakes have been released and brake gauge continues to read zero applied a little bit of power to get the wheels turning, get a reading on the speedo and start braking again. This was on approach to line speed reduction, signals and station...
Whilst the current advice (scotrail) if you think you are not going to stop at the correct spot to put into emergency and leave it which I have done I have also,in the past including the last couple of weeks when gone into a slide and the speedo reading zero even with the brakes released is to...
Yeah I know I was/am one of them from the good old BR days.Companies have to take their share though, throwing money at the drivers to get rid of all those Spanish practices and bumping up rates to take drivers from other companies rather than pay to train their own.
Have we used our position to...
I seem to remember Aslef being rather skint wanted to represent any grade on BR but his led to nur/rmt (can't remember exactly when) complained to the TUC and aslef were told they couldn't. So any time I hear there should only be one train crew union I bring this up,hopefully it's an accurate...
On scotrail at least discussions have already started, didn't start to well apparently but should be more meetings soon with sometime in 2027 for it to come in if agreeable to the members.
Aye their not keen on a slippy rail getting going though twice I've had the speedo drop to zero even after taking the brake off it stayed there, had to give a wee touch of power to get them rolling again.
The improved wsp hasn't been fitted yet, meant to start very soon, apparently.
I remember a couple of or so years ago talking to some of the staff on the royal scotsman on its first run of the season and commenting on how good it looked and asked if it had been repainted,no was the response just had a good polish.Saw it a couple of weeks later and it was back to the badly...
Lol I would like to see that.
As has been said scotrail are very firm in no one in the other than authorised duties, like everywhere else it used to be pretty much ignored guards coming in for a blether trolley coming in with your cuppy. But after several incidents whilst unauthorised staff...
Not been up that way for several years now but up the hill from Springburn to the red road flats in Glasgow there was a worn path across the track and the fence had had the car jack treatment to allow passage through.
If I stay on till the bitter end I've got about nine years till I retire, had thought I would see at least some of this in place. Seriously doubting it now.
