    No Trains on Boxing Day

Why do the railway take Christmas Day and Boxing Day out of your entitlement if it’s classed as a non working day. Annual leave on the railway is already considered incredibly poor compared to most other sectors and to ask staff to deduct 2 days annual leave from an already low allowance is...

    Booking card required

Chase works fine on SWR TVMs for me. At least for 12 months.

    Booking card required

What they don’t tell you is that if you don’t have the booking card but have it saved as contactless in your phone you can tap the black cube reader and it authorises your ticket.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Sorry but what’s the change in contract implemented on new guards which means they have to wait 2 years to receive full pay? Weren’t these proposals (RDG/previous Tory govt) ditched. Just remembered the heads of agreement document! I can’t imagine a tapered salary putting off new entrants, the...

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

Yes to clarify it was ex-Avanti. In my opinion the dark grey doors look better. But not sure on the carpet

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

Was on a XC refurbished voyager yesterday from Basingstoke. The colour scheme is fine but the carpet feels so thin! There’s no way that’s going to last and the arm rests - the paint was starting to scratch off. Oh dear.

    SWR Touch Smartcard

Vexed, Thanks. My best bet is to phone SWR as they’ll charge me for that journey even though it’s covered by the pre-loaded ticket. To be honest this is complicated and a lot of hassle compared to even a paper ticket.

    SWR Touch Smartcard

I know I can start wherever I want but the fact is Tap2Go has registered an incomplete journey despite the same ITSO card having a pre bought ticket loaded onto it on the same day. Surely the software should recognise the pre-loaded ticket and disregard the Tap2Go element ?

    SWR Touch Smartcard

Rather than start a new thread I have an “incomplete journey” flagged on my SWR smartcard which doesn’t recognise my destination - I may not have tapped out as Paddington didn’t have gateline - however I actually preloaded an off peak day travelcard from Basingstoke to Paddington. Which is...

    in-person interview for PM

Be warned, sometimes they don’t even bother to inform you of the outcome. I’ve had that with NR. It was only when I enquired with HR about the status of the job did I suddenly get a phone call from the interviewing manager.

GWR Sunday Cancellations - crew availability - why?

Also, my gut feeling is that on SWR things are going down the pan because management know the contract is ending Spring 2025 and there is no incentive to resolve things. I’ve never heard of a driver shortage impacting the SWML Weymouth- Ldn in 20 odd years but this surely becomes a spiral with...

GWR Sunday Cancellations - crew availability - why?

Was on a GWR train from reading to Paddington Sunday and it was packed liked sardines. Overheard one passenger mention to her friend that “apparently because the train divers got such a good pay deal and back pay they’ve decided they don’t need to work Sundays” I take it this is the crux of...

GWR Sunday Cancellations - crew availability - why?

Yeah I agree. SWR has tanked performance wise over the last few weeks. That with GWR being a debacle it feels like the railway is barely holding things together at the minute.

OBS Role With Govia Thameslink Railways - Brighton base

OBS salary £39,648 once fully qualified. Pretty good but you’ll need that if you live in Brighton!

That is very stingy. Surprised the Unions let them do this

    KeyGo and plusBus

The paper PlusBus ticket for Brighton is £2.90 with Railcard. Will KeyGo allow a registered railcard to offer the discounted price as opposed to the daily cap on BH Buses - £4.50 ?

    Special Offers Discussion

“Evening Out” tickets - returns and day travelcards into London - do appear but only on the day of departure. I tried booking the day before travel and they didn’t show up in the Uber App for some reason. But they definately are available as I book them all the time. Plus - agree - long may the...
