    South Western Railway nationalisation time.

Pretty sure Southampton Central got a revamp and a new lick of paint (South side). When you visit the station to be honest you don’t notice it’s been refurbed… https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0xj28xg29po

    South Western Railway nationalisation time.

The logo will look pretty decent on a proper liveried train. The double arrow and font in white will look a lot fresher and cleaner than the British Rail red. This is a holding logo until the trains get a revamp further down the line.

    South Western Railway nationalisation time.

So there’s talk of a temporary logo announced at Bournemouth depot on Thursday just gone. If that were true nobody’s seen the logo yet !

Who cares . It will still be called SWR.

    Magstripe On One Day Travelcards

Was told last week or week before that SWR put a block on their barriers for Railcards, that’s why tickets were being rejected at the Gateline. Unfortunately it meant the gateline staff had to ask for railcards (even without Revenue Protection being present)

    Magstripe On One Day Travelcards

The CCST tickets especially on SWR do fail more frequently now. I’ve resorted to using my smart card and loading a Day Travelcard onto it; however it’s £5 dearer why should the evening out ticket not be available as a Travelcard. Passengers should not be penalised for this.

Gatwick Express stock re-badged to Southern

Have seen plenty of Red GatEx trains running out of Fratton today. Are they working West Coastway route or heading up the Arun Valley ?

RMT order members not to load railcard discounts?

Why have Two Together and Network Railcards been excluded from being loaded onto Oyster cards ?

    SWR secret fares

How long has this been going? Its a link to seatfrog for cheaper fares between selected stations on the network. https://secretfare.seatfrog.com/?utm_source=gb-toc-swr&utm_medium=webpage&utm_campaign=landing-page&utm_content=seatfrog Does anyone have examples of tickets bought through Seatfrog...

    PlusBus Tickets

Is it in the pipeline the PlusBus can be added to smart cards ? It would make sense given that you can load any pre-bought NR ticket onto them …?

Elizabeth line - ASLEF Strikes (now resolved)

What’s the A/L increase and how does that compare to TfL ?

    SWR Tap2go railcard discount

It certainly does. You have to add the railcard using the Desktop version of the SWR website; they will then check your railcard number and will update overnight.

Network Rail Milton Keynes - Future Prospects?

I would say definitely apply to NR. You’ll have knowledge of the interview process from last time which will help. You will thank yourself if successful as pay scales nearly always increase each year and you will benefit from the staff travel pass / leisure scheme. There may be the opportunity...

Elizabeth line - ASLEF Strikes (now resolved)

Rail salaries will soon be out of control and there will be a crunch point. It’s a self perpetuating cycle of higher demands … no matter what inflation is.

Chiltern Rail Smartcard - Ticket Didn't Load

I do like the SWR touch smartcard. However - I’m starting to get fed up with a flag being raised where the system says I haven’t tapped out. Even though there is a pre-loaded London Day Travelcard Z1-6 on there. This is irratating when I’ve tapped in at Clapham but didn’t tap out at BSK. Surely...

Network Rail Operatives and Technicians - General Discussion

Probably a lot unrelated to maintenance. Such as Equality and Diversity. But also safety questions… good luck

Train crew actions: Passengers refusing to pay/get off train.

Not true on SWR. I was on a train last month and a guard held the train at Basingstoke until the passenger left the train as he had no ticket. The guard made an announcement as the train left apologising which resulted in a minor delay - I think it was 4 minutes.

SWR - Guards Recruitment and Discussion

But they still won’t be able to resolve ticket issues such as non-payment of fares or the wrong ticket.

SWR - Guards Recruitment and Discussion

Not once in 10 years of travelling on SWR have I seen a Metro Guard check a ticket. They don’t even have the equipment to do it
