I booked some tickets online via the SWR website, but when I went to collect them this evening, the TVM told me I didn't have the booking card. This is weird as it's definitely the card I booked with and I've been using this card on the RST website for the last 18 months with no issue!
As the machine is refusing, is this something the ticket office can help with? Sod's law that our helpful TO clerk went on break just as I got there!

What they don’t tell you is that if you don’t have the booking card but have it saved as contactless in your phone you can tap the black cube reader and it authorises your ticket.
I've had the same issue recently and indeed Chase do warn their customers that the card cannot be guaranteed to work for ticket collection. I wonder if RST default to offering any card collection and SWR does not?

Hopefully someone better informed than me can explain, in simple terms, what the actual "problem" is, with not being always able to use 'Chase' branded cards to collect pre-booked tickets from TVMs, if indeed this is the issue.

My interpretation of the problem is that Chase UK issue cards which do not have their number printed on them, and use a virtual number for any cardholder not present transactions by that account. The last four digits of the "real" number are visible in the app after a transaction on the physical card has been made.
As a result, if a customer uses the number from the app for an online transaction, they can't use the card they have to match the last four numbers. It's the same problem you'd come up against if you tried to collect a ticket with, say, a Revolut single use "disposable virtual" card, or a prepaid card that's also virtual only.
This problem also inhibits things like Airtime Rewards, the cashback app which uses the card numbers to track cashback. You can't claim that on Chase cards as I understand it.

The ticket office ought to be able to assist you; hopefully you should be able to present something to prove your name anyway, which fingers crossed is a match for the name in the booking (hopefully it's not blank or Mx C Customer or similar).
If I were you I would stick to using the same site every time if you have to use ToD. Otherwise, use a physical card on any site other than the ones you know work for any card. Other ways around that include buying an evoucher and paying with the evoucher, or paying by PayPal - this always sets any ToD to any card. I believe you can put Chase through PayPal and still receive your 1% chase cashback.

You can, if you're prepared to use a workaround - I used a third party NFC app to obtain my 'real' Chase card number and added that to the Airtime app (as well as having added the virtual card number)

We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
