It seems there were a few in Stoke-on-Trent until last Saturday https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2gd3qed88o

    Avanti extras 01/08

Indeed. A few decades ago I was waiting for "The Clansman" and the relief turned up around 10 minutes before. I got a whole compartment to myself!

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

This is 730211. It had been parked at Camden C.S.D. for several weeks on the track closest to the wall. I'm guessing that's when the graffiti appeared, although it could have been earlier. It moved to Rugby on 16/7/25. There's still one left at Camden so I wonder whether that's been vandalised too.

    Avanti extras 01/08

It used to be quite common to provide "relief" trains when services were busy, especially during the Summer. These used to run about 10 minutes ahead of the advertised service. Perhaps 1S00 is a relief for 1S48. It leaves Euston 27 minutes ahead but gets overtaken by 1S48 at Carlisle, arriving...

    ScotRail train in Lancaster

Are you sure it was a Turbostar or could it have been a Scotrail EMU? 320417 had been at Wolverton Works and returned to Scotland on Saturday. It passed through Lancaster at 12:25 on Saturday.

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

It has been mentioned in post #3112 (13th June). The first diagram was introduced on 9th June with one evening trip to Northampton. The second diagram was introduced on 23rd June with one morning trip to Northampton, as in post #3112. Interesting point about the network maps, but I guess...

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

I believe so. Also, one of the two units (not sure which one) that's been at Camden for several weeks is currently on its way to Rugby, complete with graffiti!!! Just seen it on Railcam.

12-car 350 on Trent Valley line?

Thanks. I just hadn't noticed it before.

12-car 350 on Trent Valley line?

    I notice that 350114 + 350371 + 350241 ran on the following last Saturday (12th July): 1U23 EUS-CRE 1U24 CRE-EUS 1U33 EUS-CRE 1U34 CRE-EUS 1U43 EUS-CRE 1N44 CRE-NMP Due to the length, It used platform 12 at Crewe (11 on the last journey). Is this a regular Saturday working or was it an...

Disruption between Water Orton and Tamworth, 14/07/2025

There has indeed been an "incident" near Nuneaton. You are lucky. If you had been on an earlier train and got held up behind the "incident", you would have had to reverse back to Stafford and would arrive over 3 hours late! Everything is being diverted via Bescot, Aston, Birmingham International...

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

It looks like 730233 + 730234 are currently on the way from Bletchley to Crewe (empty) as 5U30. Could this be in preparation for them starting on the Liverpool services later this week, or even the EUS-CRE services? Both of these units have already been in passenger service in the London area.

High-speed train bound for London ‘hits van on level crossing’ in village as vehicle bursts into flames (July 13)

Some reports in the press are implying that this is exactly what happened. Whilst I realise that one should not speculate, we can't ignore what's already been reported. For example...

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

Thank you for that. Two pairs appear to be out today: 730205 + 730220 730210 + 730234 On the Railcam I can see a pair stabled at Camden C.S.D. Does anyone know which ones they are? Thanks.

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

No 730/2s ran yesterday, as far as I know but there's one pair out today. Just awaiting confirmation of which ones (see last post).

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

Does anyone know which 730/2 units are in service today? 2K18 left Bletchley late and ran non-stop (possibly empty) to Euston to form 2K29. RTT is currently reporting 2K29 and later journeys as 730220 + 730205. I thought 730220 + 730205 were left at Camden C.S.D. after the morning trips on...

Low-speed, empty stock derailment at Bletchley (26/06)

I'm guessing that 0Z37 is the rescue loco returning to Leicester (currently between Bletchley and Bedford).

    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

Yes. But 213 was temporarily paired with 220 for 3 days during the first 2 weeks. Also 213+233 only ran in service together once - on the first day (9/6/25). This is the only time 233 has run in service but has had a few test runs since then, including the breakdown on 20/6, previously...
