I suspect it's a one-off. That service has normally been running with 730/2s recently. Last Sunday's allocations were unusual, maybe because Northampton was closed for engineering work and they were running an amended timetable.
Thanks. I agree with those locations for the 7 that have not yet entered service.
In addition, it's reported that 730231 went back to Gascoigne Wood yesterday:
5Q16 0817 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings (09/03/2026)
and 730207 went back to Gascoigne Wood on 24/02/2026:

Yesterday's move from Soho was 730001. Today's move to Bletchley is 730220 only (despite RTT stating 730203 & 730220), currently running 100min late.
1771954989
And 730207 reported to be on 5Q16 1246 Bletchley T.M.D. to Gascoigne Wood Sidings
Today 12/02/26 5Q77 1706 Gascoigne Wood Sidings to Bletchley T.M.D.
Reported as 37800 + 730206 + 730211
Earlier today 2x730/2 moved from Bletchley C.S. to Camden C.S.D.
Does anyone know which ones?
RTT showed it on 7th Jan on 5U51 to Crewe C.S. (with 230). Can't see any record of it since.
There was a stock movement from Crewe C.S. to Bletchley T.M.D. on 20th Jan (5B99) but I don't know what it consisted of.
It wasn't at Tyseley for long. It looks like it only arrived from Crewe the previous day as 5Q66. Perhaps there was a reason why it couldn't go direct and Tyseley was a convenient stabling place for one night.
Both journeys reported as 37501 + 730226
Looks like it was supposed to collect a unit from Bletchley and drag it to Gascoigne Wood as 5Q16, but that was cancelled and the loco returned as 0Z16.
It remains to be seen whether tonight's drag to Bletchley (5Q77) will actually happen.
Post #3855 on here reported the following moves on 23rd December:
730227 moved from Old Dalby to Bletchley
730217 was hauled from Bletchley to Gascoigne Wood
In addition, I have no record of 730226 since 9th November when I believe it ended up at Crewe, but it might have moved since.
Since the new timetable started, there should be 11 x 10-car diagrams (Mon-Fri), ignoring the odd 5-car services at the start and end of each day.
However, yesterday and today, one diagram has been only 5-car all day.
This would imply that there are currently only 21 serviceable units.
As far...
All 6 are still active 29/11/25. This is the current state according to RTT:
246+249 currently on Euston-Crewe services
250 (+110) currently on Euston-Crewe services
254 currently on Watford-St.Albans services
258 (+109) currently on Euston-Birmingham services
261 (+408) currently on...
If it happened on Monday morning at 2am, 233 would have been at Bletchley. The previous night it was at Crewe Carriage Sidings, according to RTT.
228 was at Northampton Riverside Sidings on Saturday night and stayed there until Monday morning while the line was closed due to planned engineering...
I believe this is the first day when we have had 22 x 730/2 in passenger service (6 x 5-car on Liverpool services and 8 x 10-car on Euston services). Earlier this week some of the Euston services were only 5-car.
In addition, 730216 is continuing to do training runs between Soho and Crewe.
Update to my previous post: 730223 went ECS to Crewe earlier (with 730213).
It is now in service as 1G55 to Birmingham, having taken over from 350125 at Crewe.
730218 is at Crewe now but scheduled to run ECS to Bletchley as 5B30 later today.
216 was in passenger service for most of September but appears to have failed on 22/9.
223 was briefly in passenger service early in September but appears to have failed on 4/9. It has subsequently been to Old Dalby and back.
As far as I know none of the others listed have yet been in service.
