The luggage racks on the 375/7s are solid perspex, whilst on 375/8s they are metal/plastic with holes. This helpful 375/8 feature allows rain from umbrellas and bags to drop down onto the unwary commuter that chooses a window seat. But yes, other than some other minor grab-rail features...

Of course if the aircon IS working, generally some idiot will have forced open the small windows (opposite where the electronic destination indacators are on one or two windows per carriage) to "get some ventilation", thereby negating the effects of the aircon.

Aircon is usually pretty feeble on 375s until about late September when SE bother to turn it on. :roll: I agree the toilet smells are pretty bad sometimes. Not an ahem "waste product" whiff, but a cleaning chemical one which is almost as bad. I tend to avoid sitting near the loos if I can,

Many of the problems identified could be solved had the previous design of First Class corridor (such as on 423s and 421s) been retained. First could be located pretty much anywhere on the train without disturbance caused by other passengers passing through. And the compartments offered...

Carrying on the SE "tradition" of multiple versions of liveries, I can report at least one 375 has the dark blue colour continuing under the doors (ie below the main body area such as directly over the bogies), and at least one is a dirty white there. Another quality job!

Look on the bright side. Until they give up with their silly games, you've got a guaranteed seat every day as you can head straight for them. Just dont be tempted to befriend them or you might be drawn into their web of odd behaviour and become "one of them"!

Or sarcastically thank them for saving you a seat! Consider inviting others to join in your good fortune by exclaiming "Good news everyone, there are some free seats over here".

I always try to be as calm as possible on the daily commute. Reflecting back at when I've seen the occassional petty arguments over armrests, windows open etc I'm glad not to have been a part of them as the participants have looked a bit silly. But if this was me, I'd be so tempted in this...

Sit down and look at them directly, smiling all the time. Guaranteed to wind them up. They wont be able to keep eye contact. Will they think you're slightly unbalanced? Maybe, but that just adds to the fun.
