    Hypothetical question regarding FRM project

Hypothetical post, if the FRM (rear-engined Routemaster) project had continued and London had got a large production batch, would this have speeded up the conversion to one-person operation (OPO)? Also, would there have been a single deck variant instead of the Swifts and Merlins. All...

Rail Replacement Buses, why are the routes so long?

Just been reading about the derailment at Dalwhinnie and the replacement buses between Inverness and Perth. Surely as there are intermediate stations with passing places it should be possible to provide a shorted bus replacement service than this. Rail is meant to be a way of reducing road...

Why is Glass not recycled when stock is scrapped?

Watching many videos of stock being scrapped why are the glazed windows not removed and recycled prior to scrapping? In this day and age where recycling is seen as the norm it would appear that many materials which could be recycled are just crushed, same seems to apply to buses, a mechanical...

Why were re-engined 73's numbered 73/9 and not a new class?

When re engined class 21 became 29, 30 became 31, 48 became 47, 47 became 57 and 56 will become 69. Why then were the re-engined 73's numbered 73/9 and not a new class? I can understand the experimental 37 and 47 given a sub class.

Corridor Tenders - Any use overseas?

Some A4's were given corridor tenders in order to allow crew changes enroute without stopping. I am not aware of corridor tenders being used on any other classes here in the UK but wondering if they were used anywhere else overseas.
