Isolated Standard Gauge Lines

been wondering if during the Beeching closures were there any standard gauge lines isolated from the main passenger network and only accesible via a freight line. Not talking about the Liskard to Loe where it is just a junction .

Between 1968 (when most services were withdrawn/re-routed) and closure in 1972, Birmingham Snow Hill was almost isolated - it had just a six trains per day stopping service to Wolverhampton Low Level and a four trains per day shuttle service to Langley Green (which was the connection to another passenger service/line, New Street to Stourbridge).

The various Wirral lines were connected to each other, but I think the only connections to other lines were the goods lines at Rock Ferry, the Shotton-Mickle Trafford line or through the connection at Wrexham. Someone more familiar with the area can confirm or deny this.

I was wondering about that one recently - am I right in thinking the only connection remaining to the rest of the network was a freight-only line through the old Nottingham Victoria station site? I don't recall there being any other connections.

I think that there was a freight reversal at Victoria for a short while but the whole station site was being cleared and sold off. The completely new spur at Loughborough was the answer for the Hotchley Hill gypsum traffic and MoD Ruddington but I think that the passenger service had gone by then.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain that spur was built because the rest of the line had closed to passengers.
