    Application Query

I think what he meant was that one can apply to as many TOCs as many times as you like , albeit most TOCs say that one can't reapply with 6 months of a rejection.

    Application Query

I was aware of the '2 strikes and you're out' situation with regard to taking the aptitude tests. You'll have to be a little more specific as to why he got 'knocked back'. Frankly, if he put 'stupid answers' on his application form, he's an idiot and the industry is better off without him...

Transpennine Express New Trainee Driver Vacancies

Is that the case for TPE, across all First Group TOCs, or the industry in general?

    Forwarding the Disclosure certificate.

Can't see how it seems 'dodgy' at all. Anyhoo, I'm one of the people who've had to do it and I'm perfectly happy to have done so. Well First Group & SWT (via Stagecoach) are Scottish companies. Not relevant though, since anyone in the UK can use DS. Seems good to me, freedom of (personal)...

    Forwarding the Disclosure certificate.

Further down the page on that website: I.e. it's all perfectly legal and above board. One presumes that Scottish Law differs from English Law, hence the ability to 'self-check' to some degree.

    Forwarding the Disclosure certificate.

Yep. Got mine today and it'll be sent to Swindon by recorded delivery on Monday.

    Forwarding the Disclosure certificate.

The TOC concerned will have told you that.

regarding private driver assessment course interview

Other than getting someone from a TOC's recruiting department to comment on the validity, or otherwise, of DBS's private driver assessment day I think any further comments on either side of the discussion are largely going to be wasted. All I can say is that for Lanc688 and myself our chosen...

regarding private driver assessment course interview

With ~400 applicants for each trainee driver position, I'd opine that giving oneself an edge is well worth £145. Whether Lanc688 or I would be in the position we are now is a moot point; I for one have no regrets about doing something off my own back to determine my suitability for the role. If...

regarding private driver assessment course interview

I paid for it myself, to ensure that the driver role was something I was capable of pursuing. Don't know about the chaps who went home early.

regarding private driver assessment course interview

I attended DBS in April last year ('12); 2 of the 4 attendees didn't make it through the aptitude tests and were sent home - one had travelled from Edinburgh the other from Kent, both on the morning of the test! The 2 of us who passed had a free lunch followed by the interview.

regarding private driver assessment course interview

I don't for sure what other TOCs do, but in the case of FGW they took account of my aptitude test pass. I did not have to attend FGW's assessment day, I attended one interview with FGW and was offered the role. I have heard (on this forum, I think) that some companies interview candidates...

First Great Western Trainee drivers, Anyone heard back?

Yeah Padders sounds right. I confess I kind of stopped paying attention to what was being said after I was told the good news. Ah - I think it was the medical that will take place at either Reading or KGX. 'Fraid not, as above - I didn't really have the wherewithal to ask any useful...

I chose Oxford on my application (hence the 'wishful thinking' avatar!) Paul, I'm being interviwed on Wednesday.

    DB SCHENKER private driver assessments.

My understanding is that the handwriting is assessed - the interviewers need to glean information from that which you have written and ask you to expand upon it in the interview. Questions might include the likes of: Describe a time when you had to deal with an emergency, took part in a...
