Southeastern planning to restore pre-Covid frequencies on Dartford lines

Should we wheel out the Bromley north debate again? Probably not. But I do wonder whether Thameslink taking over the Ramsgate and Dover services to free up space at Charing Cross might be more worthwhile

Southeastern planning to restore pre-Covid frequencies on Dartford lines

That would certainly be…interesting. What about 4tph to Hayes?

Southeastern planning to restore pre-Covid frequencies on Dartford lines

I was saying in another thread I wish the Catford Loop could get regular Victoria services, but the Thameslink trains are well used in the peaks

Southeastern planning to restore pre-Covid frequencies on Dartford lines

I think that apart from the rather uncomfortable stock, 2tph on a weird route isn’t very helpful. The EL is better for the City and West End as is London Bridge to that matter. I regular Cannon Street service would be more useful. As an aside, with the Catfords stuck at Blackfriars for most of...

Could there ever be a Victoria-Catford Loop service?

Commuting in this part of the world, I find Victoria to be a much more useful terminus than Blackfriars. Although I admit in the peaks the through Thameslink services to the Catford Loop are always very busy. Could a regular all day stopping service to Victoria ever be possible?

    Your favourite stretches of road

I don’t drive, but I do like the M23 and M11. Similar countryside I suppose. And driving over Buelah Hill in South London is always nice.

What could be done to increase rail usage outside of London?

Has Northern seen any greater usage since the investment in new rolling stock and electrification?

Southeastern planning to restore pre-Covid frequencies on Dartford lines

I don’t know, but it seemed we moved to a place of putting the social benefit of increased services above debating whether or not the railways should be run for profit. Certainly, reducing the services to save money isn’t going to do demand growth any good

Oh not this revenue vs cost misery, i thought we had left this thinking behind

    Fantasy: If you could re-design HS2 ...

Yes fair enough, maybe something connecting to Westfields Shepherd’s Bush and North Acton Central Line. The WLLR perhaps?

    Fantasy: If you could re-design HS2 ...

I meant moving the existing services. Rather than another Crossrail branch 1772183217 No one’s said anything about my post yet!

    Fantasy: If you could re-design HS2 ...

It can’t call itself a super interchange whilst the Overground sails by overhead without stopping. I do wonder if you could somehow divert the WCML slows via OOC…

    Fantasy: If you could re-design HS2 ...

Bit late to the thread considering these are my favourite types of threads. My high speed plan I detailed here a few years ago: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/hs-gb-another-armchair-rail-planners-hsr-masterplan-no-one-asked-for.273573/ In short, I’d call it HSGB instead of HS2 (High Speed...

Landmark deal paves way for return of regular cross-Channel rail freight

Exactly, it’s so soulless selling all our infrastructure to any Tom, Dick and Harry with deep pockets

Landmark deal paves way for return of regular cross-Channel rail freight

Here’s another question, why was a rail freight yard owned by an insurance company?

    Class 309 EMU v Class 47 on 8 coaches

Why only 5? Was it a cross country service?

Has revenue protection gone too far?

As a younger man I’d rather not have my ticket checked too many times. It only takes one slightly aresy inspector for things to get slippery fast. I’d rather have better machines

Favourite of the last Southern Region slam door units?

I went on them regularly enough as a child despite catching the tail end of them. I found the 4-VEPs a bit akward being next to the door, so I suppose the CIGs. I remember really enjoying finding units with standard class compartment carriages

    Class 309 EMU v Class 47 on 8 coaches

What about against an 86? I remember an interesting thread a few years ago that posed the question what if the original LMR electrification used 309s instead of loco hauled stock.
