    Destination boards

I find this is usually the case at London Underground/Overground, but this seems to be the case at most stations in London. Boards are smaller and there’s now only a single board instead of two (unless I’m misremembering)

    Discontinued TGV services

What ones are there? I know there’s the former Amsterdam to Marseille Thalys Solei service, which was a really interesting route. But I also have a picture from a 2003 copy of Railways Illustrated showing a TGV on a Paris to Antwerp service, which I’ve yet to see replicated.

    Destination boards

Is it me or have destination boards at stations become harder to see? There’s only one on each platform now and they’re tiny

    Eurostar Plus is becoming worse

I will be travelling from London to Amsterdam soon Yes I saw that, one of the reasons why I’m going Standard this time round.

So we’re stuck with c*appy services for the foreseeable future?

    London Buses Discussion

I can’t believe they chose the name “Transport UK” when “British Transport” is about 1,000,000 times better a name

    Elizabeth Line - future routes

Yes I thought they should have two Westbound platforms at Paddington. It’s hard to say where they should extend Crossrail. Other than Paddington to Liverpool Street it can’t really physically get anywhere useful. The only place I can think of other than the Chiltern route would be to serve...

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Every main route during the rush hour you mean?

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

I’ve never found Blackfriars to be particularly useful.

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Talk of the GWR in a Southern thread. *shakes head*

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Yes I do agree. I won’t be making that mistake again. Yes I remember seeing trains as far away as Portsmouth run to London Bridge pre-2021 I think. I’m guessing Victoria had all day demand whereas London Bridge was more peak only demand

    Could the 701/5s go elsewhere?

Yes it is a bit weird. Although Southern’s Metro operation only seems particularly busy between Clapham Junction and Streatham Common/Norbury. Of course, I’d like to think surplus stock in the South East will be a trigger for suburban electrification northwards. But the Treasury hasn’t been...

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Very interesting, I do wonder why the LBSCR didn’t extend from London Bridge to Charing Cross before the SER did

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Good to hear Victoria is still the main terminus. I am surprised to hear about Blackfriars’ popularity. Even from Kings Lynn Blackfriars is a popular destination.

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

Terminus maybe, but what about the main gateway? Especially for Gatwick and Brighton 1771412302 Ah that’s interesting

    Sorry? Not sure I follow

    Fast services routed via Catford?

Are Ramsgate/Ashford trains still routed via Catford? I’ve seen a Canterbury West train pass Denmark Hill in the late evening, and this morning I saw what looked like a Ramsgate train pass fast through Denmark Hill for some reason. How regularly does this happen?

When did Victoria replace London Bridge?

When Victoria was built, did the LBSCRs main routes transition from London Bridge overnight or was there a balance still? Plus, now with Thameslink’s increased frequency, can we say London Bridge has once again become to main terminus of the Brighton Line?

Southeastern services to City Thameslink station.

Presumably they didnt have lower profiles because of their possible use for HS1?

Does anyone remember Virgin Trains freebies in the early 2000s?

Yep. I still have one of them. My Mum through away the rest of my collection in 2005. I had a stack of Virgin Trains playing cards until quite recently I think. When I finally threw them away. A thread I once made about the FGW freebies...
